Fluid question

by Fiveft4, Nov 30, 2007 10:45AM
Is there any amount of free fluid that is normal or okay to have in the pelvis? What amount constitutes a potential problem? Thank you :-)

Sharon....I wish I knew what to tell you but I don't.  Hopefully someone will know the answer to your question.  I hope so, anyway!
Peace.

If you feel an abnormal amount of fluid, please call your doctor.  And, I'm not talking about the regular, monthly bloating during menstrual cycles or what one feels after eating a large meal.  I'm talking about your gut instinct telling you that it does not feel normal.  I see from your profile your scheduled soon for minor surgery.

If the fluid has occured since the last time you consulted with your doctor, call him/her now and let him/her know.  You may need to go in sooner.  Angie

Thank you for your response, Angie :-) I don't think I have a problem with fluid, I was asking because it is often talked about here and it made me wonder if it is ever normal to have fluid, and if so how much is considered okay? What is the meaning of fluid in the pelvis? Thanks again. Sharon

I really don't know if there is a normal amount of "fluid."  Mine was definitely abnormal, so your questions will be well answered by one of the professionals on the expert forum or even your own doctor.  Don't hesitate to ask your doctor any questions you have.  Angie

I don't think there should be any fluid in the pelvis for most health person.  Free fluid in pelvic can be caused by inflamation (inflammation), cancer or burst of the cysts.
