Follow up exams after removal of ovary and cyst

by lara1228, Mar 05, 2007 12:00AM
I never posted here before, but you ladys were all very helpful when I was getting ready to have surgery last year.  I had my left ovary and fallopian tube removed a year ago tomorrow due to a large dermoid cyst.  This was done by laparotomy.  My last check up was in July (I had to switch doctors since the doc who did my surgery does not take insurance) and I was just curious how often I should be going in for check ups...of course I didn't ask when I was last there.

Hi Lara,
I had my left ovary along with a dermoid and a brenner removed too.  I had an initial follow-up a month or so after.  All was swell so now I have my annual this week.  I don't expect any issues and hope you don't either.  I don't think we have to be seen more than annual unless there are problems.  So far so good!  MV

Thank you!!  That makes me feel better since I wasn't planning on going in until my annual anyway.  I haven't  had any issues either, and hopefully it will stay that way.  Thanks again!

Oh, good!  I'm glad to hear it.  I'm considering going sooner than my annual becuase I started having pain on the right side of my pelvic area...it happens mostly when I move...and especially when exercising.  I do have my period right now, but this doesn't seem to feel like the usual cramping that I get.  So if it doesn't go away in a few days I'm just gonna go to put my mind at ease.

Early is a good idea, normally, it is the only time I need to go to the Doctor.  Been there twice this week because I broke my right ankle, YUCH!  MV

Sorry to hear about your ankle...I hope u are feeling okay.  I decided to make an appointment, I got one for next Friday.  I'm just a little worried because I still have this lower abdominal pain and bloating.  I also did not get my period, just some light spotting a few days earlier than I was supposed to.  I am on birth control, and this has never happened since I started taking it, until this month.  I doubt I can be pregnant since the last time I was sexually active was in December, and I have had my period since then as well as two pregnancy tests.  I'm hoping its just stress or something, but u can never be sure until getting checked out from a doctor.  Sorry for going on about this...just needed to vent:)

Hi,
I never posted on here and am very anxious to see if anyone out there can help me. I just found out I have a dermoid in my right fallopian tube  weiging in at about
5lbs and about the size of my doctors fist... I need a laporotmy to have it removed.

I am scared that my right tube will be damaged.. Me and my husband have been trying for a baby, Will I have problems?

What is the recovery period for this also? Please if anyone out here knows anything please get back to me.

Thank you,
Tami
