Friend with CA 125 Over 4000- Update

My friend has completed 2 rounds of chemo-- taxol and carboplatin. Her CA 125 before surgery was over 4000. Prior to her first chemo it was 141. Prior to her second chemo this week it was 29!!! She is tolerating the chemo quite well so far. She has a couple of down days- fatigue, not much appetite, etc. but no N/V. She did start to lose her hair two and a half weeks after the first chemo so she buzzed it this week. She is working in between treatments during her two none chemo weeks. Her surgery in January was difficult. A 20 lb. tumor was removed. She has stage 1A clear cell. It is very good to see my friend in a better place than she was in January!

Thats is wonderful news.  I can't imagine my ca 125 being 4000.  With my first initial treatment my ca125 was 77, 1st recurrence it was 33, and with my 2nd it was 5.  I think this lets me know that my ca 125 is not reliable with detecting recurrences, but is a good tool so for letting me know that chemo is working.  But this is great and I hope your friend continues to do better.  God Bless

That's wonderfull news. I also had stage 1 clear cell. I am happy to report I just had a CTscan on March 3 and it's all clear. I finished chemo on June 27/2006. So far so good. Tell your friend I wish her the best and there is a light at the end of the chemo tunnel!!

That is excellent news.  I'm pleased to read that your friend has responded so well to the chemo.  It must be very uplifting to you both.  I bet she is sailing on cloud nine at the results of her CA125.  Well done to her and long may it continue.
