GRANULOSA CELL TUMOR I NEED INFO

by AllisonAllison, Jul 07, 2005 12:00AM
I had a tumor removed from my right ovary, which the doctor thought was a cyst gone haywire, but it was Granulosa Cell Tumor. The tumor which was removed cells had not divided but it  spread onto the Omentum and they say that is cancer. Does anyone know the survival rate? I start Chemo in a week but the doctors said that it is rare and there isn't a lot of data but will try and find something. I was diagnosed with a cyst in 2000 but it was small and the doctor said she wouldn't remove it. I am only 34 with no children and no family history of any sort of Ovarian Cancer. If anyone has gone thru this please would you e mail me at ***@****

Thank you
Allison

Hi, the john hopkins ovarian cancer site is a good site for info and has a great discussion board - I have seen a few posters with this rare cancer - try posting there for some info and support.

To: small cell ovarian cancer
hi im kerry from england i had small cell ovarian cancer when i was 24 im 27 now. ive gone nearly 2 years this july cancer free from this diesese. they give me a 98 per cent chance the cancer will come back.. but after chemo and raadiothephy im doing well. i still have a high chnce my cancer can come back. i have a rare and aggestive cancer which is hard to fight,  my point is it realy depends on how the treatment works on a person and to not worry as people do live longer than most doctors say?   im praying and getting each day as it comes. i still have 3 months checkups which is frightening for anyone. i recently had one and was told i was all clear again. and also my ca125 levels did start rising within the normal range it did go up to 27 which i started to worry as i throught my cancer might come down, but now they have come down to 21.  it could be anything that made that go up not cancer?   everyone stay strong and never give up love kerry
