I am not a dr but I am a granulosa cell tumor survivor.  You should be seeing a gyn/oncologist who is familiar with granulosa cell.  It is fairly rare so ask  how many women he has treated with gct and find a gyn/onc who has treated it before.  I was seen every three months for the first two years and am now seen every six months.  I have a CT scan every other year, but many women have one every year. It depends on your stage and your dr.  You should ask to have your Inhibin A & B levels checked regularly.  Granulosa cell tumor has a history of late recurrance - meaning it can recur even as far as 30 years after original diagnosis, so you will need to be followed for the rest of your life.  You will need to take control and be your own advocate and make sure they take you seriously as uninformed drs think that it won't come back.  It can and too often does come back.  You can check the OvCa.net website's discussion board - they have a very informative granulosa tumor thread.  Best wishes, Chris P

Good luck.  You will be strong - it's the best way to fight this disease. Make sure your dr answers your questions until you understand him/her.  It's good to take someone with you or take a tape recorder so you have a back-up for anything that is said to you. Chris P

This is the same story I am hearing from my doctors too. I had both ovaries removed, but I have two children already.  No chemo for me either. Docs say this type of tumor doesn't respond well to it.  I am also 32.   I have also heard that it can lie dormant fro a long time. He said he had a patient get it again after 15 years.  So, keep getting the inhibins and CA125 checked.  It is exciting to think of a future pregnancy for you. Best of luck to you!  Megan
