Groin

Hi Everyone,   What a surprise today - instead of chemo I'm to have radiotherapy for enlarged lymph nodes in groin and pelvic area.   CT Scan also organised.   Unfortunately the blood test for CA 125 was not available but after a very thorough examination  my oncologist decided on radio rather than chemo again to give my  bone marrow a chance to make a good recovery.   Has anyone had this?
In answer to Jenny's question yes I have had all the recognised treatments for Ov. Cancer but have only had radio therapy once and that was for a lump in my neck, lymph nodes again.   When I had my first recurrance it was in my lymph system and has so far remained there.   I'm pleased to be trying something which hopefully will not make me sick as I am enjoying feeling almost normal at the moment.
Regards to all
Helen Jane

Hi Helen Jane...I also have a cancerous lymph node in the left groin area. My Oncol. tells me that he thinks it's isolated to just the one, as it's not getting any larger. Did the chemo that you've had help in anyway? I've just started on Taxotere/Carboplatin which worked well for me in '04.
Just wondering, does your Oncol. think that the radiotherapy will 'zap'the lymph node? I may need to think about radiotherapy at sometime in the future too, as I've had lots of chemo during the past 3 years.
Thanks for any input. I hope you're feeling o.k. though.
Best wishes....Helmar (Helen, also :-)  )

Dear Helen,
I think I have more than one lymph nope affected but confined to groin and pelvic area.   My oncologist say she can zap everything a long as it is not in the same place.    Five shots is not too many and she can have another go if need be.    When I have the CT scan things will be clearer then and if need by she hae assured me we can go back to the etoposide/cisplatin.   I will post how I get on whatever.
God Bless

Hi Helen Jane... Thankyou for your response... it's most appreciated. Just wondering, how long it's been since you were first told of your node involvement. I detected my swollen node while having a shower one morning in October last year... but it's not got any bigger, so the Oncol. thinks it's only the one. I've not had any other show in the neck or other places, so I guess that's a blessing. My Oncol. is talking radiation too, but I've got another 5 treatments of Taxotere/Carboplatin to go to try and reduce the present cancer, which isn't solid, but as he described it... more like seaweed. I'm hoping that this combination will clean up what's there, and maybe then some radiation. Please do stay in touch, and let me know how your treatments go. My Surgeon sent me for a biopsy, and when the results came back as showing cancer in the node, my Surgeon sort of indicated to me that it wasn't a good position for me to be in, but I know that they can successfully treat lymphoma, so I'm not giving in to anything yet. I've got a lot of Scottish blood running through my veins too... *laugh*... and we don't give in eh? Btw.. my 'email is  ***@****   if you would like to mail me anytime.
Wishing you all the best... and I hope it goes well for you too.
*hugs*....Helen...
