I heard about this cake a while ago and when I bought some soya flour for my sister it had the recipe on the side of the packet.

Unfortunately, during the menopause a women's oestrogen levels drop. HRT replaces the oestrogen, thereby delaying the natural ageing (aging) process.
Ingredients such as seeds and soya are rich in phytoestrogens - natural plant chemicals which mimic female hormones. It is thought it helps with the symptoms of menopause. Only one slice a day is needed.

Here are some web site links for the recipes.

This last web site also lists the foods that are good to eat to help with menopause.

I've just copied the one from the soya flour packet.

HRT Cake

Place:

100g soya flour
100g wholewheat flour
2 pieces finely chopped stem ginger
200g raisins
100g porridge oats
100g linseeds
50g sunflower seeds
50g pumkin seeds
50g flaked almonds
1.5 tsp sweet mixed spice

into a large bowl and mix thoroughly.

Add 800ml soya milk and 1 tbsp malt extract.

Mix well and leave stand for 30 minutes (if mixture is too thick, add more soya milk).

Spoon mixture into two lightly oiled 1lb load tins with grease proof paper.

Bake in a pre-heated oven at 190DC/375DF, Gas Mark 5 for 65-75 minutes, or until cooked through.

Leave to cool. Serve sliced and spread with soya spread or butter.
