Hair Regrowth and Whole Brain Radiation

I was just told by my oncologist that it is very likely that my hair will not grow back since receiving brain radiation treatment.  I am quite devastated to hear this and wondered if anyone can confirm this based on their own experience.

Thank you, that's encouraging.  How long has it taken to come back?  My son is getting married next fall and it would be nice to have some hair back by then.

Hi again, Its difficult to say, as Vi is still on Chemo, but its about half inch after 6 months, but remember she is under chemo, topotegan, that thins the hair anyway. Steve

Helen, that makes me feel better.  I know my hair won't come back like it did after chemo but I'm hoping it will come back to the point where I'm not noticably bald.

Yes, my son is getting married at the end of September next year.  It gives me something to look forward to, for sure!

Hi Steve,

Your wife had whole brain radiation. Did she have ovarian that went to her brain as it did with newlifegal and it did with me? I'm hoping she's feeling well.

Christa,

I know someone that had whole head radiation. He lost some hair in one little area but not all of his hair. As you know everyone is different and maybe the doses of radiation are different. Congratulations on your son getting married! What a nice event to look forward to.

Hi, although not confirmed as no biopsy was completed, this was the opinion of a neurosurgeon we were sent to, Violet had a spot, that was found because she had a dropping eyelid, this was never seen beforwe, we checked aagin after 3 months and it had grown by 0.2mm Vi had gamma knife, followed by full head radiation.
