Hair growing back while on chemo???

Hair growing back while on chemo???

Has anyone notice hair on scalp starting to grow back will on chemo????? Most of my hair fell off after my first chemo cycle and now just finished my 4th cycle and have 2 more Carbo/Taxol.  Today I realized that my fuzz is getting longer and new hair is starting to grow back.  Should this be happening while still on chemo?

My hair started to grow back on taxol/carbo. I thought it was because it was not working. But the doctor assured me this was not the case.

Daughter was a natural Blonde, lost all her hair, it's growing back now, She finished chemo  end of Nov 2006.  Very soft and almost colorless. About 1" long, spotty growth. She uses Johnsons Baby shampoo.  Read this story   A woman looked in the mirror one day and saw she only had 3 hairs , so she braided it and had a great day, next day she had 2 hairs, so she parted it and had another great day, 3rd day 1 hair left, so she wore it as a pony tail, and went shopping, 4th day no hair at all.  She said "Good I don't have to mess with my hair today"  Attitude ladies is what counts. I met 4 ladies shopping at Wally World  this past summer, all were bald, all had T-shirts that read Bald Is Beautiful. They wear their bald heads as a message that they were survivors.

yes...your hair is supposed to grow back while on chemo (at least that is what all the books they gave us say).  Even though it all 'falls out', it is already starting to grow again.  So this is normal.  Some people will be bald until chemo ends and wait.  Chemo affects everyone differently but don't worry...not having a side effect (or having it not appear again) does not mean the treatment is not working (in other words, absence (or having) of a side effect has no bearing on chemo treatment)

Tks for your reply, I don't recall reading about hair growing back during chemo and was starting to think that my combination of chemo drugs was not working!!!

No problem!  Here is something from the ACS:

"Hair loss from chemotherapy is almost always temporary. When your hair grows back, its color or texture may be different. Hair may start to grow again near the end of your treatment or after the treatment is completed. "
