Hand/Arm pain after surgery?

Hand/Arm pain after surgery?

Hi ladies. Hope everyone is doing well!:)

So, I had my laparotomy on May 12th, a little over 2 weeks ago. Ever since then, I have pain in my left hand (around where the IV was placed) and pain in my left arm. I noticed there is a bump on my hand (that's where it hurts) as well as on my arm (also the area where it hurts). Does anyone know what this could be? I'm kinda worried that they are clots or growths or something. The bump in my hand feels soft, like a vein. It's really weird..

What do you think?

Hi Becky,
I can help with this question. I have the same thing and my surgery was on the 12th too :-)
It is a superficial thrombosis or clot from the cannula and the doctor told me to put hirudoid on it which I did for a week. Mine has eased a lot and I haven't been putting the cream on as regularly.
It is apparently not like a deep vein thrombosis which are dangerous. I hope yours begins to clear up soon, they are quite painful and uncomfortable.
Hope this helps.
Regards
Susie
p.s. How is your pelvis, I have been having a few aches just recently and wondered if its normal.
