Has anyone had a face rash with Doxil?

Has anyone had a face rash with Doxil?

During my first chemo, they had to stop and continue the next day because my face began to flush and break out in a red rash. Then my eyes began to turn red. For some reason my hair looked as though I had put my finger in a light socket. I was one pretty sight. It went about the same way yesterday for my second chemo, except the nurse found a way to stop it. She diluted the chemo with the water drip. Then this morning I wake up to a red, red face! I grabbed the Benedryl and applied the Ammonium Lactate lotion, but I still look a little freakish. Anyone else had this reaction? My doctor also prescribed Gelclair for my mouth. TG

Hello...the only place that I got a little rash was after the first treatment and it appeared along where my bra sat, so I didn't wear one for the remaining 3 treatments. You will get a rash if clothing is too tight... but it seems that you must have an allergy to this, for it to affect your face. I don't know what to say, as it didn't happen with me, but I did get many very large and sore mouth ulcers, which were very unpleasant, so I was pleased that I only had 4 treatments. It worked really well for me though... and continued to do so for 3 months after I finished having it. My Oncol. decided to stop at 4, as he wants to keep it for another time if needed.
I hope it works out o.k. for you, as this stuff is bad enough when you don't get much in the way of side affects, but the rash on your face sounds like it would be awful for you. so I'm sorry to hear that.
I hope your Oncol. can come up with something to relieve it for you.
Best wishes and hugs...Helmar...

Thanks for the sympathy! My onc. has another chemo lined up in case I get worse or this one doesn't work. I didn't hear the name, but it is for breast cancer, so he will need to appeal to medicare as I have ovarian cancer. What works for breast cancer seems to work for me. Strange..TG

Hi, I have a flushed face which is lasting longer this time, and sometimes down my neck and chest.  I have inflamed hands and feet too and haven't been able to go back to work, drive or do much housework, but it beats the alternative, lol.  I try to be careful not to expose myself to heat or sunshine, not even through the window and wash in cool water.  I just had my 10th doxil two weeks ago.

Oh, my Pjet, you are one strong lady. This rash is not fun. Do you mind if I add you to my prayer list? TG

Thanks TG and I will add yours to mine if you wish.  That seems to be what has been getting me through!  Good luck with your chemo.

I have low grade cancer, so Tamoxifen and Arimidex kept my cancer at bay for eight years. But, this past year, the fluid in my abdomen began to increase to the point I had to have it removed. My secod parenthentesis didn't work, so chemo was the next in line. I felt the anti extrogens gave me many good years that were normal and full.

Hello again... just wondering.. is that drug called Tamoxifen? Over here, there are quite a number of ladies with Ovca who are being treated with Tamoxifen, which is a pill given to ladies with Breast cancer, but apparently it's working well in some ovarian cancer patients too.
I wish you success with your treatments, and hope that whatever you are having will get rid of this horrible beast for you...... hugs...Helmar...

Hi my name is Jill. I've had 4 treatments ;of Doxil.  My mouth is on fire and part of my lips.  I've lost my voice which I don't think is related to the Doxil.  Has any one had it so bad in their mouth?  The last three times I had mouth sores but this is different.  It feels like my tongue and mouth lining  was badly burned by swallowing way too hot coffee or a big bite of very hot cheese.  Anyone experienced this?

I had terrible blistering and rashes on my body and legs from the Doxil --- the dosage was reduced and they added decadron which made it better -- however, the decadron made my face and neck temporarily red === If you go to Doxil.com there is an 877 number you can call for a nurse to give you some suggestions -- I actually took the info I got on the phone to my doctor and that was when he reduced the dose and added the steroids ----- I also had the mouth sores and burns -- I had to drink cold stuff all the time and avoid anything that wasn't soft and cold (I ate a lot of yogurt) --- stay away from anything even vaguely spicey -- and during the infusion suck on ice chips

I'm done with the Doxil which shrunk the cancer but didn't put me in remission -- my legs still feel like elephant skin but the rash seems to have gone away after about 6 weeks....

Good luck to you all
Jeanne
