Help needed from other who have gone threw the same!!!

To make a long story short, I went to the ER a little over a week and a half ago about some intense pain I had been getting for year now that always seemed to come after my period was over. The doctors had me do a CAT scan as well as an Ultra scan. They found ovarian cysts on my ovaries(has not been tested for cancer...YET). They said that the cysts were about a 2 in size and there was three on my left ovary and two on my right (smaller on the right one). Well, the day after going to the ER I started to bleed heavy. My cycle has always been the first week of every month. Its never changed..until now.. and always lasted two to three days-regular flow. I have been bleeding heavy for a a little over a week now. Going threw 2 tampons (regular size) in a hr. I have been constinally bleeding every day since. I have read about the rupture of a cyst and was wondering if this is what could be happening. I am not on any kind of medicine nor any kind of birth control. I just want to know if this extreme, bleeding is normal? but there again what is normal for something like this?!  My history: I have one daughter,no extreme medical history on me other than asthma as a child. I'm 28 yrs old. There is Cancer in my family, my sister a few yrs back got dignosed with cancer in the ovaries. If anyone can help or give any information I would appreciate it. I do plan to return to the doctors after the holiday season is over. Looking for more information until than.Thank you for your time and thanks for reading this. ARANK

please make an appointment with your gyn dr. I had the same thing happening for several years, they all said it was my hormones and ultra sounds looked normal, kept changing gyn's until one decided to do a biospy to rule out cancer, it came back a grade C, after surgery it turned out to be a III-C, get a gyn dr that will do a biospy ASAP, I was .o7cm of breaking out of my utherine wall and going into the cavity.  If you have insurance it will pay for it.

Hi,
I have had heavy bleeding like yours, with a heavy clots.....
I had  a lot of cramps, pains for days...
Finaly the gyn. find out I had fibroids on my uterus, inside and outside. Also I was anemic, because of the heavy and long period of bleeding.
Make sure you schedule your appointment with your doctor ASAP, and ask for ultras., Scan and bloodwork with CA125.
Do not wait! Also, because of the bleeding, take a lot of fluid, with EXTRA vitamins! ER is working on the symptoms only.
Well, sorry for your holiday, and hope, help you just feel little bit better, you are not alone! Sue

Hello - I have not gone through what you have with the heavy bleeding but I would definitely get it checked out due to the possibility you could become anemic.  Becky

I have had a history of bleeding heavy for two years.....just went through a hysterctomy.  One doctor thought it was endometriosis and the other said fibroids.  They only found a large cyst on my one ovary that was the size of a peach (pathology report has not come back yet)and the my cervix was enlarged and difficult to remove.  I had one time that I was bleeding so bad that a clot about half the size of my fist came out, and even had something white come out about the size of my pinky, and the stupid ER doctor did not do anything for me other than give me pills to stop my bleeding...did not even check if I was anemic.  I believe that you are supposed to seek medical help when you are bleeding as bad as you are.  I would not think you would be bleeding that long and heavy if it was just from the cysts bursting.  Please get it checked out as soon as you can.
