Help this chicken/CAT scan

Will someone please tell me how the CAT scan is done? Do they use dye? How does it feel? Anyone have heart palpatations when dye was injected? I am an 8 month survivor of breast cancer. I have been on tamoxifen for 6 months. For two months doctor has been watching 1 cyst (left ovary) and three cyst on the right which is a mass and 2 fibroids for 5 years. Do fibroids ever go away? I went the other day for another vaginal ultrasound and they said the left cyst has shrunk a little Not enough to speak of) but the right was still the same and they saw something that they did not know what is was just behind the ovary. What organs are behind the ovary? I don't have any pain or irregular bleeding? I am 42. Have three kids and I am done. I know in my heart that I need to have this stuff taken out but there again I am a big chicken. I suffer terribly from panic attacks and anxiety. I'm scared. Thank you.

Thanks ladies. I go Friday. Have to be there at 3:30 to drink that stuff and scan is at 5:00. Wonder how long I'll have to wait for the results? I'll keep you posted.

Oh im hearing ya with the panic attakcs and palpatations babe - seriously. After my surgery I insisted on having the heart monitor on cos everytime I tried to turn over I had heart flutters. Really scary old stuff that was. You may experience palpatations but not because of the scan because of the anxiety. Do a bit of reality testing. You know they wont hurt you, you have had them many times and apart from being uncomfortable they aint killed ya yet right?

Let us know how you get on and im right with my fellow anxiety sisters

My CT scan was much less stressful then I thought.  I had to drink 1 cup of water every 10 minutes until i consumed about 1 pitcher full and then just before the scan, they injected the dye.  No heart palpitation (?),  I had to lay on a bed and this ring with neon lights would move up and down my body and a voice would tell me to take a deep breath, hold and then release.  Had to drink more fluid half way through, guess you need to have very full organs (?).  The hard part was actually interpreting the results.
Good luck

I was nervous the first time too. I had dye injected but no side effects. Only that warm or was it cold feeling...can't remember to be honest. I think warm...anyway, it was relatively quick and easy. MRI is more enclosed and confining. You'll do great! The waiting game is definitely worse.

Hello you chicken, I was a chicken too. I had a CAT scan couple of mounths ago, and the worst thing was for me to drink a liquid before the scan.Nothing special, the tech. will tell you what is going on. Very fast too, couple of minutes. You will have only once a warm feeling, but that's all.
For the cysts, they are changing with your hormon levels all the time. Good luck, and don't be a chicken, trust me. Sue
