Hi have had similar symptoms to yours but on my right side. Collapsed a fortnight ago, they think a cyst ruptured and bled into the abdomen. Anyway, insisted on seeing a gynae who said he thought it was a haemorrhagic cyst but the only way to be certain was to have a look, and as I was symptomatic (in pain) then that would be better than a 'wait and see' approach. Scheduled for surgery 2 November, he is reassuring that he feels it is a cyst and nothing more sinister - my cyst is 2.5cm x 2cm but will investigate due to the pain. Your pain is clearly having an adverse effect on your ability to carry out your normal day to day routine and so it would seem reasonable to question whether a laparoscopy to remove the cyst (even though it is small) would be reasonable.
You should not have to spend the next however many months/years managing pain if this is not necessary, at least that was my comment to my gynae!
The best advice I received on this site was to lay your fears out in black and white to your gynae. I was worried about the risk of cancer and so I asked him directly and was firm that for me, it was unacceptable to be left in pain.
Pain should never be an option! You should get a 2nd opinion from a gyn/onc as they are specialists in women's gyn issues and have seen everything. Even though 99% of ovarian cysts are benign, you are wise in seeking medical attention.

were you referred to an urologist due to the blood in your urine? blood in urine minus an infection needs to be evaluated. maybe you have some inflammation problems in your bladder?
