Hemmoragic Cyst

by Rue Rue, Jan 04, 2007 12:00AM
I just found out that I have a small hemm.cyst rt.ovary(3cm to 4cm) small amt of fluid posteriorly behind uterus.  My GYN scheduled me for OR due to pain although he said he did not understand why I had so much pain. Without surgery, how long can these persist until absorbed after rupture or how do these types of cysts resolve themselves.  Is OR an option I should consider?  I do have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome.  THX

I was going to dr to determine whay I have had bleeding off and on (period heavy) for almost straight 2 months, sometimes about 4 days non blkeeding before it starts up again. I ALWAYS have had heavy cramping and bleeding for periods even before the IUD.
I have pain on ovulation but no bleeding.
I was given blood tests for virus and stds and cultures for bacteria. But no PAP two weeks ago because I was bleeding.

Next step was to have ultrasound done yesterday
I was just diagnosed yesterday with a 4 cm hemmoragic cyst on the outside of my ovary.
I was told it could rupture but right  now it is "contained". Should I avoid Sex. I go back Nov 15 for another US to see if it is bigger or smaller. My Dr Prescribed Seasonique. Twofold. My period/bleeding may be a hormonal imbalance due to being on Prednisone Sept 1 for a sinus infection. and sometimes the BC pills can shring ovarian cycts.

They finally did a PAP yesterday since I wasnt bleeding.
All tests were Negative. I am still waiting on PAP results.

I have had an IUD in place 9 years with no problems and no abnormal bleeding. Occasional spotting after sex due to cervical polyp. US showed no issues IN the Uterue or with the IUD. In Dec 1995 I did have cervical cancer during pregnancy and had a cryosurgery while pregnant done since it was advanced.

I am worried about uterine or endocervial cancer or why am I bleeding.

Also should I avoid Sex because of the hemmoragic cyst?

I think that your Doctors may be missing a bleeding disorder.  I have von willebrands disease which causes heavy, lengthy and frequent periods.  I also experience break through bleeding in between cycles.  You can go to allaboutbleeding.com to learn more about bleeding disorders.  Most gynecologists are not eductated about bleeding disorders and perform unnecessary surgical procedures (hysterectomy, endometrial ablation) instead when a simple clotting medication would take care of the problem.  Talk to your mother, sisters, aunts, grandmother, etc.  Bleeding disorders are most always genetic and not acquired.  Have these women had unusual bleeding or hysterectomies? Unusual bleeding at childbirth, miscarriages, etc.  Do you bleed excessively when you brush your teeth?  Do you bruise easily?  Good luck,  Mary from Buffalo
