Hot Flashes, Night Sweats after tube, ovary and Dermoid removed

Hi, Everyone, My Dr. says if I have my period, then everything is working. I also had my other tube tied. I have hot flashes, and sweat so bad it feels like I have taken a shower.  Anyone else have this.  My Dr. doesn't feel I need hormones but hmm I feel something is off.  He wants me to call if I get pain in the other ovary, but hopefully that holds off forever.  Thanks everyone, and this is a really informative website, I hope everyone continues to get well.

Hi there and welcome to this site.  I had 2 softball sized dermoids removed via lap 12/21/05.  My dr. removed my right ovary and 90% of left one.  I had all the symptoms you are having.  No period in over 70 days.  Just had bloodtest on 2/22/05 to measure estrogen levels.  Dr. called me 2/24 and yes, I am in menopause.  The 10% of my left ovary did not kick in.  I go next week for mammo and bone density and once we get the results, my gyno and I will discuss options.  I am 45 and have 2  kids, so it really isn't so bad!!  I know the symptoms you are having are tough!  At one point, I was changing my jammies 2 or 3 times because of the night sweats.  Things are subsiding a bit, no nightsweats, but still hot flashes! (we call them power surges!)  I hope this helps.  You are in my thoughts and prayers.

I forgot to mention, if you have your other ovary (whole?) it should kick in and take up the slack.
