How have you relieved paresthesia or neuropathies?

I think mom might be getting paresthesia (tingling, tickling and prickling sensations in the feet) after her 2nd treatment with the clinical trial drug patupilone.  

Wondering what anyone has done to mitigate these effects in your own chemo treatment?  I know this is an effect with Taxol and from what I read from breast cancer patients, they have used Glutamine supplementation with mostly good results.

My Dr at CTCA has me take 300 mg of B6 3 times per day for this. So far I have no problems.

I have had chemo twice, Taxol/carboplatin, both times I took Balanced B-100 by Nature Made, has all the B vitamins. Only neuropathy I had was a little in one toe,
Ask your doctor about this. This actually was suggested to me by a Dr the first time saying it might help.

I am calling you Alan, because I have a difficult time remembering a long name. Alan, I got nueropathy with Carboplatin. My doctors say that is impossible, but research shows that a small amount of people will get it. You will need to tell your doctor or go to a nuerologist. I have taken Nuerontin (Gapentin) which helped somewhat, but the drug that has helped me the most is Cymbalta. It is really for depression, but if you search the web, you will find it is also good for nueropathy. Also, gel insoles placed in the refrigerator, and then in shoes or socks keep your feet from burning. If your mother is walking, tile floors are wonderful for cooling her barefoot feet. Nueropathy sometimes goes away. I hope your Mother's does. Texas Grannie
