How long after having one ovary removed does it take to get pregnant?

I wanted to know what I should expect after having one of my ovaries removed. My husband and I are considering trying to start a family next fall and I unfortunately had to have an ovary removed. How long afterwards does it take to resume normal courses and such?

Since it is such a busy weekend for so many, you might not get many responses (my life has been blessedly quiet lately, I guess) until next week. But, I am sure you will get some, other than mine. If not, try posting in a week or so.

I will tell you that I am the product of a Mom who had an ovary removed...she got pregnant with my brother quite quickly after the removal of the ovary, and then I came along 18 months later. This was in the early 1950's.

Hope all goes well for you.

I had an ovary removed in my teens (large cyst) the other ovary was not in optimum shape, but my great doctor removed many small cysts from it and resectioned it... I stayed on the pill until I wanted to try and get pregnant... when I went off the pill, I developed another large cyst in that remaining ovary, which was removed, along with some of the ovary.
I got pregnant about six months later (my doctor told me not to wait).  I had two more children after that, all with less than one complete ovary!
I also did hypnosis to help me calm down about it all!
Best of luck to you...lots of women have kids with one ovary....

Hi
I had a dermoid cyst and a fallopion tube removed. I was able to get pregnant right away with my fisrt child. they just told me to wait a couple of months to let my bosy heal from the surgery. Back then I had the cut open surgery. Not like they do do the easy way. dont worry you will get pregant with just one side working. I have 2 beautiful children. Good luck to you!
