I live in Kentucky and had no idea there was a movement to get a plate approved. I looked up the web site and saw the plate that has been submitted. How wonderful! Once it is approved, I will be the first in line to get one! What a wonderful idea. I am so encouraged. The group that is responsible, OAK (Ovarian Awareness of Kentucky), is hosting a dinner in August. I had no idea about that, either. Just goes to show you that you should do as much research as you can. Never know what you'll find.

Hey!
I got your email NYC-Lady and I sent you a template JPG that Kentucky used for theirs. There is a lot of red tape. The money doesn't come easy but I know you can get it passed in NY too!
I wonder if NY allows charitable tags...as in I wonder if we're approved under "breast cancer" if that's already been passed there. It may be a long shot but it couldn't hurt to ask.
I'll investigate too.
Great suggestion on bumper sticker Simply Star! The money will need to go through a not-for-profit group either locally or national so it's a tax write off with purchase. We have these great teal car magnets our CanSurvive group makes here in Alabama. The tag is different in that it is a one time cost that spreads awareness and goes directly to research locally because the tags are governed through each individual state. I think the bumper stickers are great idea though! It might be something the NOCC would like to do!
A much cheaper and easy to get and to use would be a great bumper sticker design one and sell it on the web each forum user could buy what they want and spread them around I am not clever enough to design one but I bet some one on here is.
I have attached the information that I found on-line for New York State DMV and "new" custom plates. I will call in hopes that the web-site is not updated:
How do I make a suggestion for a picture plate, or get a picture plate created for my organization?
Effective August 2, 2004, pursuant to the Commissioner's discretionary authority under sections 404(1) and 404-l of the Vehicle and Traffic Law, the Department of Motor Vehicles temporarily suspended consideration and approval of requests for creation of new custom plate series. This moratorium does not apply to those plate series mandated by law or those which have already been approved administratively, nor does it extend to the modification of existing contracts to which the Department is already a party. The moratorium will continue in effect until the criteria for approval of new custom plate series has been reviewed and the Commissioner's regulations updated accordingly.
Hey Megan - I sent you an email....I'm willing to give it a shot here in New York....I expect all my fellow New Yorkers on the board to support me on this....I'll let you know what I need as I the process starts moving.
Megan - thanks!!!!!
