How to understand ultrasound results?

by jho25, Jun 12, 2009 09:06PM
I would like to ask help from you to explain this results: " The uterus is retroverted with smooth contour and homogeneous echopattern measuring 6.2 x 3.7 x 3.0 cm.(cervix measures 2.3 x 2.2 x 2.1 cm.). The endometrium is trilaminar measuring 0.8 cm thick with intact subendometrial halo.    The right ovary measures 2.8 x 2.3 x 1.9 cm. The left ovary measures 2.7 x 2.7 x 1.8 cm.  Both ovaries have multiple peripherally located anechoic cysts measuring less than 1.0 cm in diameter, with dense central stroma. There is no free fluid in the cul de sac."
I am worrying about the cysts. Is it the kind of cysts that is still manageable or not? I hope you could give recommendation too. Thanks a lot.

Hi There,
that is a fairly normal sounding report. The cysts are most likely follicles which are normal cysts that surround the egg cells.
best wishes
