Hysterctomy and removal of Lymph node

I had a grandulosar cell tumor on my left ovary and the ovary was removed.  Adnormal cells were also found.  I was referred to an gyn oncologist and his recommendation is for removal of everything, total hysterectomy, including lumph nodes, omentum and appendix.  Is it normal to remove the lymph nodes especially since it was pre-cancerous cells that were found?

Dear Figs,
It is hard to answer your question without knowing exactly what the pathology report showed. For instance, it is not rare for a granulosa cell tumor of the ovary to be associated with a cancer of the uterus. This occurs because the granulosa cell tumor can produce estrogen. the excess estrogen causes abnormal growth inside the lining of the uterus. this leads to malignant change.
of note: a granulosa cell tumor is a malignant tumor of the ovary.
take care
