WHAT DOES A SLIGHTLY PROMINENT UTERUS MEAN? WHAT'S IT CAUSED FROM? ALSO,3 YRS. AGO MY OBGYN SAID I HAD A FIBROID CYST ON MY LEFT OVARY,WHICH HE SAID IS NORMAL.THAT FIBROID CYST COME AND GO. NOW LAST YR.2009 I HAD AN MRI,CT PELVIS W/CONTRAST AND SHOWED I HAD A 2.8cm.LOW DENSE LESION CONTAINING SOFT TISSUE IN THE LEFT ADENEXA CONSISTENT WITH A DERMOID CYST.I'M SO CONFUSED AS TO WHAT EXACTLY DOES ALL THIS MEAN? AGAIN THIS YR. I HAD ANOTHER CT PELVIS W/CONTRAST AND CAME BACK THE DERMOID CYST IS NOW 3.4cm.!! WHICH I NOW HAVE A 1.8cm. CYST ON MY RIGHT OVARY(WHICH I NEVER HAD A CYST ON MY RIGHT OVARY) PLEASE!!!!  PLEASE!!  I NEED ANSWERS..PLEASE BE HONEST AND PLEASE EXPLAIN IN FULL DETAILS WHAT ALL THIS MEANS :=(  MY OBGYN,IS RECOMMENDING A HYSTERECTOMY,WHICH I WILL HAVE IT DONE WITHOUT A DOUBT. OVARIAN CANCER RUNS IN MY FAMILY!! ALL KINDS OF CANCER RUNS IN MY FAMILY!!:=(  CAN ALL THIS LEAD TO CANCER EVENTUALLY? I ALSO HAD CERVICAL DYSPLASIA,HALF OF MY CERVIX HAS BEEN REMOVED 10 YRS. You poor thing, you have a whole host of problems going on.   And I am sorry that you have no extended family.  I personally do not take any hormones at all since my complete hysterectomy, I haven't grown a beard or anything yet, and just deal with the occassional hot flash here and there.  Listen to what your doctor has to say, what they want to do and why, and if you feel like you need to get another oppinion, do so, just don't wait.  You live in Texas right? You should have doctors everywhere, but I understand that it won't be immediate, I guess.  When I first found out that I had this huge mass, I remember it was on a Wednesday, I call the gyn/oncologist office that my primary doctor wanted me to see, and I had an appointment that Friday, things went quick for me, which was better, I didn't have time to think.
Get copies of the MRI films and the reports, you are entitled to them.  I get copies of EVERYTHING, especially when you are seeing multiple doctors and a variety of problems.
I too have major back problems that I have been dealing with for the past 2 years, it's horrible, I understand your pain there.  I also have Mitral Valve Prolapse, but have no problems with that, just the typical taking the antibotic before stuff.
Get your appointment on the 14th out of the way, write your questions down, people use to say take a tape recorder with you, but these days everybody have cell phones that do everything, when you are talking with your talk, use your phone, anything to capture the conversation, if you don't have anyone to go with you.  Let us know what happens on your appointment.  Jane.

THANK YOU SOOO MUCH FOR RESPONDING TO MY POST.UNFORTUNATELY,SAD TO SAY..MY SO CALLED FAMILY DISOWNED ME @ THE AGE OF 16.MY SO CALLED MOTHER KICKED ME OUT ON THE STREETS @ 10PM. @ THAT AGE DUE TO HAVING A PUERTO RICAN BOYFRIEND.WHOM NOW IS MY HUSBAND OF 22 YRS.:=) WE, LIVE IN NY. ND OUR FAMILIES LIVE IN DIFFERENT STATES, SO, IT'S JUST US, WITH OUR GROWN 5 CHILDREN. JUST THOUGHT I'D LET YOU KNOW THIS. OK, AS FOR YOUR QUESTIONS.MY OBGYN,HAD NO CLUE OF THESE MRI'S.AND WHAT THEY SHOWED.WHY? BECUASE,I HAD STOPPED GOING TO MY REG. I LOOKED THEM OVER CAREFULLY,REALIZING THE RESULTS FROM A YR. AGO UP TO NOW,SHOW I HAVE DEVELOPED MORE ISSUES.SO,THAT'S WHEN I BECAME AWARE TO CALL MY OBGYN!! I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT ON SEPT. 14TH.I ALSO SEE A DR. FOR DEGENERATIVE DISC DISEASE,ARTHITIS THROUGHOUT MY NECK ALL THE WAY TO MY TAILBONE,2 BULDGING DISCS.RECEIVING SHOTS FOR THE PAIN.MANY PAIN KILLERS,PHYSICAL THERAPY,BURNING OF MY LOWER BACK NERVES AND A TENS UNIT,ALL THAT DOES NOT CURE THE PAIN.THEY DISCUSSED SURGERY 4 THIS.I'D RATHER WAIT,UNTIL I GET MY FEMALE PROBLEMS,TAKING CARE OF FIRST.IT CAME TO MY MIND,MAYBE THAT'S WHY I HAVE SO MUCH PAIN IN MY LOWER BACK,DUE TO MY FEMALE ISSUES.WHAT'S YOUR OPINION ON THIS? First of all, calm down ;)  We are all here to help and listen. It is natural to be upset and scared, especially since you are familiar with ovarian cancer, but so far alot of what you are explaining "sounds" like alot of tumors and growths you have are of the benign type, and are relatively small.  You have a family history of cancer, and a history of gynecological problems, and I assume you are past child bearing age, where your gyn is recommending a hysterectomy, but what we all here would probably recommend is having this done by an oncologist/gyn.  These doctors are trained to do these types of surgeries and look specifically for any type of cancer, IF ANY.  Have you asked your gyn any questions regarding the results of your mri? Was there anything else in the mri that was questionable?  The main thing is, is that you are staying on top of things, you are doing all the right things.  Do you have another family member that can go with you to be another set of ears?  I know that is very helpful when you are getting alot of information at one time.  Take Care and keep us updated.  Jane
