I need info about simple and complex cystic lesion

by flossiemae, May 25, 2005 12:00AM
I have had several ultra sounds for pain. I have already had a hysterectomy in 2000, taking out everything but the ovaries. On 04/01 I had a 2.9cm simple cystic lesion on the right side and a 2.3cm complex cystic lesion on the left side. Now it is 2.9 on both side and there are signs of endometriomas. I am taking a Lupron for therapy. My qustions are: What is the difference between simple and complex? What is endometriomas? Is this cancer?  I have already had uterus cancer. I am scared and can not go talk with my doctor until next month please help me. Right ovary is 4.7x2.7x4.3cm. Left Ovary is 3.7x3.4x2.7cm. Thank you for your time and help.

Hi, I had a complex cyst a few years ago mine was the size of a small orange around 6" in diameter.  Simple cysts are filled with fluid only and are common in pre-menapausal women.  Complex cysts are more concerning but are still common and the majority are not cancer.  Complex cysts usually are part solid and part fluid.  An endometrima is a cyst that is filled with blood, it is also sometimes called a chocolate cyst.  It can present as a complex cyst as the blood can make it look like there is a solid component.  Endometrimas are not cancer.  I believe they are common in women who have endometrosis, which is where the lining of the uterous grows in other parts of the body and it can cause a variety of gyn problems.  It's a fairly common gyn problem. When they did my surgery to remove my complex cyst they also found two smaller endometrias.  I was told I had endometrosis and I didn't even know - sometimes it has no symptoms!

Did you see a gynocologist oncologist for your uterine cancer?  If so, a consult with him/her maybe a good idea to ease your mind and to keep them in the know.  If you didn't previously see a gynocologist oncologist maybe you could get an appointment just to get an opinion on your cysts.

I did see a gyn for cancer. I am going to again 06/01. It is just a few days away. I am young, only 28, and I have three children. A few days to me is a long time. I have am also bio-bolar, so I get depressed real easy. The doctor has already put me on Lupron shots. I have been in menopause for about three months already. I am just concerned because I already had cancer one time and it was no picnic. I just do not want to have to go down that road again. I thank you for your time and enlightment on this subject.
