I still have an ovary!

Hi to all! I just wanted to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers and to let you know that my laproscopy on Wed. was successful. They removed the 6 cm cyst and two spots on my abdominal wall. The gyn/onc told my husband that he didn't think that they looked like cancer, but of course still sent them to pathology. We are still waiting on the pathology report. The best part is that I still have an ovary! Great, isn't it? I was a little nauseous coming off of the anesthesia, but was fine as soon as I got some nausea medicine. My surgery was at 10:00 AM and they sent me home by 5:00 PM. I had horrible shoulder pain that I was told was from the gas that they pumped into me so that they could see during surgery. The shoulder pain was worse than the abdominal pain, but thankfully is all gone today. My abdominal pain isn't that bad right now, either. Now the most frustrating thing to deal with is that I can't lift anything over 10 lbs for 2 weeks. This means I can't lift my 21-month-old son. I have had to spend a lot of time at my in-laws' house so that they can take care of me and my son. My parents live 7 hours away and weren't able to get off from work. My husband was off the day of my surgery, but has had to work since then. I am so thankful that I still have an ovary! Thanks again for all of your thoughts and prayers! I will update as soon as I get the pathology report.

Sounds like great news Glenda!  And good luck on the path. results.  I am set up to have the surgery on April 17th.  It sounds like we have a some what similar situation.  I have a complex cyst that is about 5.5 cm.  They are looking at possible removal of my ovary.  Take care of yourself and just becuase you can't lift your baby...doesn't mean you can't give plenty of love(which it sounds like you probably already have :) Again good luck to you!

Splendid news indeed!!!  I'm with ya on the whole ovary concerns as Ashley is in the same boat.  I am so happy things went well and your remaining ovary is still in place.  Take it easy and rest up.  I look forward to hearing the good news on the path. report.

Take care and God Bless,
Bob

Oh, almost forgot, that referred pain from the gas hurts and may not return but if it does, drink hot tea, seemed to help me!  MV

Welcome to the Recovery Side (RS) Glenda!  I had emerrgency surgery years ago for an ectopic pregnancy and couldn't lift my then 2 year old daughter so tottaly understand your frustration!  It is second nature but do try to lift nothing heavier than a gallon of milk!  Although I imagine it is tough not being in your own home I am glad you have help!  Please let us know when you get the pathology but bet I will being greeting you into the 99% club!  MV

Great News...I had bad shoulder pain also, that I just didn't expect-but like everything give it time. Be sure to give yourself time to heal especially with a toddler. Just take it easy...Hugs!
