I will NEVER do it again

by Mishelle, Jun 18, 2006 12:00AM
I am all done with bowel prep. That stuff tastes atrocious, gave me a headache, almost threw up every glass, and caused me to feel drunk and not in a good way. I starved myself for 2 days so it didnt take long maybe 2 liters. Well that is the end of that. It wont happen again. Now I just want to go to bed but it is too early. Thanx for letting me vent. I knew that was something I couldnt do without b***hing. Erika&name=Mishelle

One question though, is it normal to be even more bloated around the tummy after this?

by suzsen, Jun 18, 2006 12:00AM
I wasn't bloated afterward.

You and I must be on the same schedule.  I had two days of bowel prep also.  I just want some food I can chew!  Did you have the Fleet Phospate?  When I took todays dose I added some lemon juice and sweetener.  It helped a bit.  It did not upset my stomach as much as yesterdays.  I have been bloast also.  I guess all that stuff must produce some gas when it is going through.  At least that part is behind us.

Did you say "behind us"?  (tee hee hee) Sorry, I couldn't pass on that one.  You can get me back when I am drinking mine.  Again, good luck to you tomorrow.  I'll be thinking of you!

I had golytely. Disqusting stuff. I starved myself thinking there wouldnt be much there so it wouldnt take long. The last meal I had was friday morning, unhealthy I know but figured if I had to do this I would not be on toilet all day.

I hear that stuff is pretty brutal.  It is amazing how much hangs around in our bowels waiting for stuff like that.

I start my prep on Thursday. I am doing the pill version. You have to take 28 of them within a 5 hour period. How can 28 of anything be good for a person? lol.

Hi Mishelle, the 28 pills are a prescription laxative. I can only imagine how bad it will be. I am bad off if I take only 2 laxatives. Doesn't 28 seem excessive? Has anyone else done the pill prep rather than the tasty beverage?

I didn't know there was a pill version.  Even though the outcome would be just as bad, I think I would do better on pills, so I will ask my GI Dr on Wednesday about them.  I already have my gallon jug of NuLitely sitting here, but I can still get the pills if he thinks it is an option!

OMG, ladies I am not looking forward to the "prep".  My surgery is 6/27, pre-op is 6/23.  Did you at least loose any weight?  I have 5 lbs to shed and maybe that will be the good that comes out of this (lol).  I have never done the bowel prep and now I am a bit leary of it.  EAK!!!!

Hi, I didn't have to do the bowel prep before my ovarian surgery. I am hoping the colonoscopy helps me lose a couple pounds. But, I'm betting it will just be water.

Hope I survive the 28 pills. I'm the type that gets weak and dizzy if I don't eat. ugh.

I have to enter my two cents.... Bowel prep SUCKS!
But, I pulled a CD player into my bathroom, and had a good book and pillow to lean on, and just stayed there for a few hours with my pants at my ankles and just read my book. Unpleasant thing, but staying there was easier than trying to bolt for the bathroom when the urge hit. :)
Good luck ladies!
