IV/IP Taxol/Cisplatin Treatment

After reading Teresa's posting I decided I need to post about my chemo treatment. I will begin my 4th round of chemo tomorrow.  I receive IV Taxol on day 1, IP Cisplatin on day 2 and IP Taxol on day 8.  I handle bothTaxol treatments really well.  I receive premeds of steroids, Zophran, Benadryl, Tagament and Ativan.  I am very lucky because the following day after getting both Taxol treatments I do not need to take any nausea meds.  I get admitted to the hospital for my IP Cisplatin for over night infusion of fluids. It is much harder on my body and I need all of my nausea meds when I get home for about 5 days. No nausea as long as I take the meds. It really wipes me out! By day 6 my appetite is back and I feel much better.  I do have to say my stamina is really not there but I figure as the treatments go, it is the way it will be until I am finished.  I met with my chemo doctor today and she feels really good about my treatments.  She says most people get sick from the IP but the nausea meds work for me so that is good.  My last CA 125 was 7.3 and thats with IP treatment which can elevate a CA 125.  My energy level is high enough for me to go in my classroom and see my students, along with playing softball on my womans team.  In fact my womans team changed the name of the team to, Fight Like a Girl and our shirts are teal to support me with my battle.  I hope this information helps someone as Teresa said.

I did taxatere Iv  then cisplatin Ip and then taxol IP the following week.  I did fine but now two years out still feel the effects of the drugs, neuropathy and fatigue but all is doable  If i exercise I do even better.  I am still looking at the long run for this treatment  I was stage 3B  and stge 3 in agressive cells.  I wish people wouldn't get scared off by the treatment.  All my treatments were in the docs office but after the IP  i needed extra hydration on about day two.

fgood luck to all

I also had no trouble with the taxol.  I did get the anti-nausea drug, Emend, on Day 1, 2, and 3 (which included day 2 cisplatin). Each treatment day included steriods, benedryl, and aloxi (also for nausea).   I did not get hospitalized.  The week of taxol/cisplatin left me tired, no taste buds, and a little nausea.  I would also use campazine for nausea at home and only once added zofran for breakthrough nausea.  I drank lots and lots of fluids and got hydration with the chemo.
