If I have symtoms(symptoms), is it too late?

I will be 40 in April. I have 4 girls ages 9mo to 15 yrs.I took BC pills for 6yrs. My mother dies of OC at 45yrs old, also 2 gt. Aunts.
  Just before Thanksgiving I started having severe pain in the right lower abdomin (abdomen), also bloating. The pain eases up for a week or so then gets bad again. The day after Christmas I was severely constipated (rare for me) then started having problems with diaherra (diarrhea). I've also been experiencing fatigue but this could be due to running after my girls. My sister in law is a nurse practitioner in women's health. She examained me externally and said it was probably a cyst, because cancer doesn't hurt but to go the doctor right away. Then I read one of the symtoms (symptoms) of OC is pain. My main question is if it is cancer are there the "early" symtoms (symptoms)? Does this mean I might have caught it in time? I worked up the courage to go to the doctor last month and there was no docter there...they told me to come back later...this was an ugent care.
  After watching my mother go through "treatment" in the early 80's I'm not so sure the "cure" (none in this case) isn't worse than the diesease. I am scared. I know if caught early the chances are good, but what is early? Does the pain mean not? I don't want to put my children though years of watching me die. I'm afraid once I go to the doctor my life as I know it will be over. Pleas help me. Thank you, SLc
