If all other tests are negative, does it make sense to have laproscopic surgery?

If all other tests are negative, does it make sense to have laproscopic surgery?

I have had concern over symptoms that could be consisent with OC.   I am 44 years old, have none of the 'risk factors', and have some of the other things that are actually 'good' (was on bc pills for 5 years, have 2 children, etc.).   I had a transvaginal US that was unremarkable, a clear CT scan, a normal pelvic exam, and a CT-125 of 34.  Will a laproscopic procedure confirm beyond a shadow of a doubt that I do NOT have OC, or should I be satisfied with the other tests being normal??

Hi There
with the normal testing that you have had, usually the recommendation is close follow up.
But it sounds like your doctor is being very thorough and your are in good hands.
I know it can be very stressful.
please let us know how everything turns out
best wishes

More on my symptoms:  (frequent/urgent urination and fullness in bladder area off and on for two years, pelvic pains that come and go for about two years, and also periodic unexplained bouts of nausea on and off for two years), withsome  very recent ( gastro symptoms- grumbly and gurgly noises, severe stomach cramps, unable to pass gas, etc.) and lower back pain for about a week.

I am literally terrified of having surgery (and they call it 'non-invasive', but it sure sounds invasive to me!), but I am more terrified of having OC and not treating it until it is too late and missing seeing my kids grow up.    Should I give up on this being OC and forget the lapro?  What else could it possibly be causing pelvic pain, urinary issues, new gastro symptoms???

I am living in fear and in a constant state of mental and physical anguish.  The surgery is still a few weeks away, if I decide to do it.   I'm not clear whether the lapro is going to tell mle anything more and if there is no visible tumor on the ultrasound, what would they be looking at on the lapro??

Thank you for your patience in reading this lenghty post! I literally am not functioning mentally or physically as I wrestle with this potential situation.

I am home recovering from the laproscopic surgery.   My doctor said everything looked great.  Between the normal ultrasound, CA-125 (though it was 32..........seems awfully close to the top of the 'normal' range.........not sure if I should be worried), and CT scan, I think I should have some peace of mind, right?  She saw nothing that would indicate OC and thinks I should focus on symptom management (which right now, it is the GI stuff that is still lingering since it started 2 1/2 weeks ago :((

Anyways -I'm glad that I went through with the surgery, and am hoping that with all of the variables outlined above, that I can put the OC concern to rest and see what is really going on with me.  THanks for your earlier response, Dr. Goodman!
