I'm back--can't relax--can't sleep

I think I am truly obsessed with this website.  I must truly be losing it; but, anyhow, I can't sleep so I am back.

I thought I would tell you about my co-worker.  She is older than I am and has been having a lot of health problems lately--mostly to do with her esophogas which she has to have stretched eey 3 months.

Since her last procedure having this done, she has been having pelvic/abdominal problems so she went two days ago and had tests run which came back negative.  So yesterday morning, she went to her DR and he set her up for a colonoscopy TODAY.  that really amaxed me how fast it was.  So she left work and instead of the gallon jug of "goodie" she was given 3 fleet something-or-other to take (which is what painterlady had to take).

Anyhow, she had asked me to pick her up afterward because her daughter had to leave to go to work.  The DR doing the colonoscopy said she had one polyp, a part of her bowel was twisted (which he thinks he was able to correct), and she has some adhesions.

So........question here.......can they straighten out a twisted bowel during the colonoscopy?  And why did my DR give me this whole gallon of "goodie" to drink and she only got these 3 little things?

And how did she get an appointment in a one-day turn around?

Sorry...I am just thinking out loud.

I had horrible pain. Pulling, aching, pain...lots of pain. It can affect all those nerve endings all over that part of the body and can radiate out to other areas...I was sent for an MRI trying to find out why I had all this pain. IT was during the colonoscopy that the adhesions were discovered. And, I was sent to have that cuz they were worried I might have colon cancer...and, all this time it was the crazy adhesions.

Please see if you can find my old post on Adhesions...(by Mary 53). Check on this forum or in the archives under general.  I found relief for adhesions that to this day amazes me. If you cannot find it let me know. I have the printed info saved to my hard drive. Deep massage called "body rolling" gave me sooo much relief.

Till later, Mary

My pain is also a pulling type pain. Sometimes it feels like something is stuck, right where my left ovary used to be. Other times it almost feels like a spasm and other times it feels more stabbing.

I don't know what is causing my problems yet, but my GI told me on Wed that he doesn't think my problems are caused by adhesions.  I am having a colonoscopy on Monday.

My symptoms--lower dull back ache, pulling pain in left side, sharp pain in lower left ovary, blood in urine, slightly elevated WBC, big change in BMs.  Evrything on me is mostly concentrated on the left side, but sometimes radiates to the right side. just a little.

Hi mary, well, maybe I don't have adhesions then as he didn't see or feel anything to my knowledge. All I know is, when the new gyne did my pelvic exam a few weeks ago, the side where the ovary and tube were removed hurt like heck. Maybe it takes more than 3 months to heal? I don't know what to think anymore, but I've been poked and prodded for 6 months and am ready to take a break and see if things settle down.

My pain in the area where the ovaries was caused by -adhesions. It was worse on the right side. That was the side that had the cyst-filled ovary, including the malignant cyst. The adhesions were making my colon colapse and this caused irritable bowel syndrome. All I know is that the doctor remarked with great surprise, "Oh, my, you have a ton of adhesions" during my colonoscopy. Makes sense that he can "feel" them as the instrument is pushing it's way through the colon. Ouch!

I didn't realize there were so many different forms of preps!

Hmm...maybe my GI guy didn't feel any. Though he is the one that suggested my pain where my missing ovary is could be adhesions?? This adhesions thing seems to be tricky doesn't it?

I asked her how he knew she had adhesions and she said that he told her you can't see them in a colonoscopy, but that he can feel them by the way the instrument he uses moves through her. (???)

Hi Thuney, apparently there are several different ways to do the colonoscopy prep. Mine was the 28 horse pills. My GI said today you can't see adhesions from the inside of the colon? Wondering how he diagnosed that, unless that was where her colon was twisted? I assume they took the polyp out and sent it for biopsy.

You would not believe how many colonoscopies were being done today. I asked the outpatient nurse and she said 36. So, you will not be alone on Monday.

Thinking of you and try to get some sleep.

I guess I should have figured that out for myself.  Thanks.

How are you doing tonight?  As you can see, I am up and somewhat grumpy about it.

Have a good night.

Maybe there was a cancelation.  I also had a mamagram the other day with my ultra sound.  I was actaully suppose to make my appointment that day but when I went in they said they had a appointment for the same day.  So I took it,  than while I was having UT they came in and said just come next door and have you mamagram now before you leave no need to come back later. Lucky me
