I'm bleeding again, what now?

I'm bleeding again, what now?

I’m 49 years old and been in menopause since age 45.  I had breast cancer last year and went lumpectomy, Radiation and Hormone therapy since the cancer was 90% estrogen receptor positive.  It was not in my lymph node.

I was given Tamoxefin in June.  Around the end of November 2006, I felt terrible sharp pain in lower left pelvic area.  I felt cramps, and then I noticed some spots of blood.  As the day progressed, so did the bleeding.  In fact I have never bled so heavy even in the years I had periods.  This bleeding was very, very heavy.  I’ll just stand up and the blood would just ooze out.  I went to the doctor, and he performed a biopsy and gave me Megace to take for 3 weeks.  After losing all that blood, I remember my blood pressure was 105/70.  I also had an ultrasound and found that my uterus lining was 9.7 millimeter thick.  I was told to stop taking Tamoxefin. The biopsy came back negative

At end of February 2007, the same bleeding episode happened again.  I have been having intermittent shap pain, alway on my left side.  Again, my doctor did another biopsy and again it was negative.  Another ultrasound showed uterus thickness was down 7, 2 millimeter.  I was given Megace again and still off Tamoxefin.

Around early May, the same bleeding episode happened again. I'm still having intermittent pain on my lower left side.  My doctor ordered another ultrasound and this time sonogram too.  This showed that my lining was around 4.7 millimeter and they did not see any mass anywhere my insides.  My doctor said that my uterus lining was back to normal size (anything below 5 he said) and that all the cause of my uterine bleeding was because of the Tamoxefin.  I was given Megace again for another 3 weeks. Visit to my medical Oncologist – he changed my medication from Tamoxefin to Arimedex.

August 1, the same bleeding episode happened again. Intermittent sharp pain days before the bleeding.  I went to the doctor and he said that I must have hormonal imbalance that’s causing this repetitive bleeding.  He gave me prescription of Megace again, but this time instead of taking 1 pill a day for 3 weeks, he said to double and take 2 pills for 3 weeks straight.  If I still bleed later this year, to go him again.

This is where I had enough, but I don’t know what to do.  I always feel pain in my lower left pelvic area and there are times when I have intercourse with my fiancé, there are bleeding after intercourse.  Now, he has phobia to touching me, which is also affecting our relationship.

One last thing to add, I saw a Urologist too around the second time I bled, because my doctor recommended it, and the urine test came back with Atypical Trasitional Cells, Rare – said on the report.  Thereafter, Urologist office did a fish test, I think that’s how it’s spelled, and it came back negative for bladder cancer said the Urologist, to repeat test in September 07 (6 months)

Can someone share their similar experiences with me please!  Is what I’m going through normal for my age of 49 after being monopausal since age 45.  Could it be, I'm just having periods again every two-to-three months?  Can it be possible at all?

Thank you, Thank you so much.in advance
Stely

Your simptoms sound same as mine.  I do not want to scare you but it took my doctors more than a year to find out that it was cancer.  Have them check your blood for cancer antigen 125 and also ask for MRI just to rule out ovca

Maybe a new doctor would be in order, this guy keeps going to the same test, etc. and possibly is not looking at all possibilities. You have given this guy enough chances to figure it out, it's time to look for new doctor and maybe best choice would be a gyn oncologist.

Good luck.

I do not know what you will do, but I know what I would do, since you had BC, and now all this , I would ask for a complete Hysto, ovaries and all.  I would visit an Onocologist and ask them to rule out OVCA for me.
