Thanks Alicia. I just heard back from my gyn who basically scolded me for worrying about this cat scan. I asked for an ultrasound and he said I didn't need one for a perfectly normal looking Cat scan. He said all women will show a cyst depending on their cycle and that this looked like a follicle in a perfectly working ovary. There was no measurements on the Cat Scan. I tried telling him about always having to pee and have a bm that alternates between normal and loose and about the acid reflux. He said that I am in good hands going to the GI doctor. I can worry about those things but not the results of the cat scan. I felt blown off but this doctor knows my anxiety about my health and tends to be firm with me. I am part of a high risk breast cancer program and have left a message with the nurse to make sure I don't need a second opinion. They also have a high risk ovarian program. I need to stop worrying and get on with my life!!!!!
Hi Lynn,
I wanted to respond when I saw the title to your post. I can not answer you as to whether or not you have cancer. I just wanted to reach out and tell you that I feel your pain and have been very scared myself. I have a history of many ovarian cysts and that worries me too. My cysts have turned out to be functional, which basically means they will resolve on their own, but I get them every month. It is very painful, hard to sit, and feels like a lot of pressure in abdomen and rectum too. I also have been suffering with heavy bleeding and pain for about six months. I just had my third child in March '07, and after complaining of back pain I had a routine MRI on my back and they said my back was fine but my uterus had a mass or showed inflammation. To make a long story shorter, I went to my OB and he did several tests and I ended up diagnosed with adenomyosis. It is when the entire uterus which is a muscle has endometrium growing within the entire muscle. Causes lots of pain and bleeding. Only cure is a hysterectomy, and although we are not having any more children I didn't want that. I am now 3 days post-op, I had a Novasure Ablation, a hysterscope and D&C done. I am recovering well and feeling good. Lots of cramps but no bleeding!! The meds take care of the cramps well, and I should be good as far as recovery within a week. Have you had a blood test for ovarian cancer? I think it is called the CA125??? I had that and thank god it was negative. See what your options are. Has your doc suggested an ablation or discussed that with you?? Do you have heavy bleeding and severe cramping or is it all cyst related??? I hope this helps a little. Hang in there and try to stay positive. I know how scary it all can be.
