In the pelvic lymph nodes now- is chemo the appropriate trx?

by Luvmymom, Jul 29, 2003 12:00AM
My mom was diagnosed with Stage III in April 2000.  She had 13" of colon removed and 6 months of chemo.  Her CA 125 climbed steadily this Spring.  She had a CAT scan, which showed enlarged nodes in the pelvic area.  She had 8 weeks of chemo- carbo- every week.  She just had another CAT.  Nodes are still enlarged, but have shrunk some.  The dr used the term "atrophied."  I'd never heard this in reference to this subject.  I'm inclined he's just being positive.  She is now to have 8 more trx.  Every 2 weeks.  He discussed quality of life-every 2 weeks gives her more "good time." But is it realistic to expect the chemo to shrink lymph nodes?  And is carbo the way to go?  Plus, what is this "atrophy" all about?  Thank you so much.
