Instead of worrying, should we just go a head to have LAPAROSCOPIES ???

Instead of worrying, should we just go a head to have LAPAROSCOPIES ???

I has been worrying sick for months about what was going on with my right ovary because the size is so much larger than the left...

I had a LAPAROSCOPIES done last monday.  According to my surgeon every thing is ok.

I do have holes and pain in my stomach within 24 hours after surgery...  However, come to think about it...  it is worthed because I can focus in other things now...

Instead of worrying, should we just go a head to have LAPAROSCOPIES if possible ???

No...

If a cyst is ovarian cancer, the research shows that your best chance of survival is primary surgery with a gynecological oncologist.  They can do things that a regular gynecolgist cannot.  They can tumor debulk and perform cytoreduction removing any visible signs of cancer.  Read my previous post on my gyn/oc GUY KNOCK.  This Kristin from KSTP here in Minnesota had her initial cyst removed laparscopically by a regular OB/GYN.  It came back as cancer, so guess what?  She had to go back to surgery for open laparotomy and surgery with a gynecological oncologist so that he could stage, take biopsies, and look for other signs of cancer.  He removed the omentum, did peritoneal washings and biopsies throughout her peritoneum.

Especially for large, complex cysts a gynecological oncologist should do the primary surgery.

Thank you Kathy for your comments.

I don't know much about these things, and just start learning.

My surgeont is a gynecological oncologist and specialty in Ovarian cancers at a University.

He used Laparoscopy for my surgery, he said both ovary normal...

later, I ask a student doctor, but, people say you cannot tell until you cut it and have it test...

She said the surgeon have seen many ovaries and know which one is normal or not...  plus, I don't really want to lost my ovaries...

I though, they are doctors... and they should know what is the best thing to do for their patients...

While, I really hope they know what they are doing...  Because, I am not real sure what is going on...

Instead of worrying, we should just go to see a gynecology oncology if possible...  and don't go a head to have Laparoscopy.

Thanks again for your comment Kathy W.  Have a nice day.

Pathology is the final confirmation.

So we have to lose one of our ovary to be sure it is cancer or not.  And there is no other kind of test such as only get some tissue from an ovary and don't need to remove the whole ovary ?

You know I have heard that they do them laparscopically and put a plastic bag into your abdomen, and place the affected ovary in the bag, cut it up, and then pull it out, so that if it is cancer, then it doesn't get spread into your peritoneum.

Any doctor that says they can tell that it is not cancer by looking, is not telling you the truth.  They can suspect.  They can even place bets that it is 1 in 100,000 cancer, but they DO NOT KNOW until a pathology report comes back.  They can see if when they get into your pelvis and abdomen that cancer has spread, and that they can visualize spots of cancer on the colon or bladder or other placles.

Pathology is the final confirmation.

After reading this postI'm wondering if I should even do my polyp surgery, much less the laparoscopy if my gyn suggests it. I have a 4.5cm cyst on my right ovary with septation which he is watching and I'm going back for another ultrasound next week, surgery for a polyp in  uterus is scheduled for the following week, and he wanted to possibly do a laparoscopy also. I am having some pain and sympto ms from this cyst, but they seem a little better this week. For those of you who turned out to have ovarian cancers did you have a feeling that you had this? I don't feel that this is cancerous, so I don't want to go through a surgery, but my gyn says the polyp could become cancerous eventually.Any suggestions as to what to do? The more I read about this the more confused I am.
