Interpreting TUS results

Hi,
I am 29 and have a 14 month old child. I went to my gyn with complaints of left-sided pelvic pain especially during ovulation. He sent me for TUS.
These are the results:
Small anterior wall fibroid in the uterine body with thickened endometrial cavity and lining that is smooth in outline.

Normal appearance of right ovary.

Left ovary contains and irregularly shaped cystic structure measured !.2*1.7 cm within which is a hyperechoic structure that measures 1.0*0.2 cm and also suspicion of an isoechoic mass withn the left ovary that measures 1.3 * 1.7 cm. These findings may indicate the presense of dermoid-type cyst.
Recommend a 2 month follow up transvaginal study.

My gyn wants to do another TUS in 8 weeks. Is it ok to wait that long woth these findings? Is the fact that they found a slid isoechoic mass a bad thing?

Thank you so much for your help.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi There,
Thank you for putting down the details of the ultrasound. It looks like the radiologist is interpreting the finding as a dermoid. A dermoid is a benign tumor of the ovary that arises from an egg cell. It has a very classic look on ultrasound. It is one of the few diagnoses that can be made with some certainty by ultrasound alone. There are very slow growing tumors. I agree with the recommendation to repeat a scan in 2 months
best wishes to you
