Introducing the new Ovarian Cysts Community

Hi,

Clearly some members are faster than I am, since they are already posting in there, but we're pleased to announce the opening of an Ovarian Cysts Community at: http://www.medhelp.org/forums/show/258. We're excited to add a community for the numerous women who have cysts and provide a dedicated place to discuss the health issues around this. Obviously, members are still free to participate in both communities, especially since a lot of members consider this "home" being as it was the only place up until now.

Also, we'd like to give thanks to Mid who has volunteered to be the community leader for Ovarian Cysts as well.

We hope you will visit and that it thrives as much as this community has!

I will float between the two as well....(I need to go join up!!), but I am so sad that Marty has decided to leave and I think that to lose her is a huge loss to this community.  Marty, if by chance you are reading...you are such a wealth of support, knowledge and wisdom and it is such a shame you have come to this decision.
I wish Leslee, you and your family the very best, and my hope and prayers are with you all.

Peace and love....Kim

two communities are better than one.  Lets not take offense, but when someone knows it is a cyst what they go through will be diferent than cancer.  The ovca site was getting very full.  We can take offense, but hope it helps.

Mid

I know that  having the new cyst forum  is a good thing and should not be seen any other way.

The two groups can compliment each other with  its Knowledge.   They both are equally important  to not only each other but to all the members in both communities.

Also, you can be assured that OvCa awareness  will still be be a big part of the cyst forum -- WE WILL ALL  make sure that never changes.  This holds true not only for the current members, but also for so many women who will come to either forum in the future.....

Take care
Mid

Sorry  guys but I see it as control.  I am out of here for good, I will be able to help Leslee through other means.  Bitterness of a few caused this to happen, that and  a feeling that they were the only ones that know the rules and the disease.  I leave with regret because there are many good people on here that are not self serving, Also in a true community, as you call us, we should have been able to choose our own Police. Sorry Gail I don't mean you.

Hi,

Just some clarification on the new Ovarian Cysts community. I'm not sure where the idea came from that our hand was "forced" into creating a new community or anything. There was no forcing. It was simply a great suggestion we received.

The new community is very simple. There are a lot of members on this site with ovarian cysts, that do not have ovarian cancer. When we find a group of members with a condition, we give them a community so that others with the same condition can find them and they have a dedicated place to discuss the condition. If you look around our site, we've been doing these break-out forums for years. MS was broken out of Neurology. Heart Rhythm was broken out of Heart Disease. Pregnancy out of Maternal. Herpes from STDs and so on. All of these places have thrived once they were given a dedicated community.

Simply put, why shouldn't they have their own dedicated community? These are, after all, two different conditions. And granted, they can be closely linked, but both the Ovarian Cancer and Ovarian Cysts communities share a Community Leader in Mid, and most members will still participate in both communities after being in here so long. Typically that leads to a close partnership between the communities, including referring members back and forth for information. From MedHelp's standpoint, we're proud that this community has grown so much that it can support both communities and provide a place for new members that may have cysts or cancer. That's a terrific thing. We hope you see it the same way.

I understand everyone's position.  I can say that thanks to Mid, the leader of the Ovarian Cyst, and many other ladies who have now joined the ovarian cyst forum as well, Thank you!  I will be referring people to the Oncologist, and to the OVCA forum as I see necessary, and will float between both forums if you ladies in OVCA don't mind my visits.

love,
Donna

I feel kind of taken back by the switch to two forums.  Ovarian Cancer is often misdiagnosed, an average of 3 to 12 month delay in diagnosis because people are not aware of the signs and symptoms.  The best and only defense against this disease right now is early detection.  I believe that everyone with a cyst could be at risk and if we, those that are educated in this beast, are not there to poke and prod and suggest Oncologists or share our stories...than we are doing a disservice to those people.  This forum is big enough for everyone.  The top of this page lists all the subjects related to this forum and there are topics that relate to both Ovarian Cysts and Ovarian Cancer.

MedHelp - it's great that you listened to the select few that have issues, it's too bad you didn't come to everyone to get an idea of what everyone thought.  I just hope that we don't lose not even one person or one diagnosis or one life do to this change.  Part of the reasons that I was impressed by this forum was the fact that everyone shared, we used to care about people benign or malignant.  That is what made this forum different then others.

It's too bad that we as a group allowed a few people to ruin what we once had and to create this horrible division that never existed in the past.

Welcome to our new community as our "leader" .. I think it will be a good forum as these darn cysts come up a LOT !! And we can still refer those that may need it to the OvCa community. I still intend to check in every now and then as I've come to care about so many of the women  even though I don't know them personally.. and also to help answer any questions that may come up from women like myself that were so afraid waiting around for results..

Thanks again,
Sandy
