Is Avastin used for ovarian cacner now?

My wife is  having OC stage III C. Suboptimal debulking surgery is over on 28th January after three initial chemos. No problems during surgery. The 4th, 5th and 6th chemos will be over by the 30th March, 2011. Her CA 125 and CEA levels are normal. ESR is high.

Q: Does anyone take avastin for OC as a second line of chemo if there is recurrence?

My experience with recurrence is that they can send tissue off to an assay lab and report back what chemo might work. Also it is most likely that if there is a recurrence they will try many other things first before Avastin because of the side effects of that drug. yes, it is used, but normally after other common drugs are tried and do not work. There are about 10 drugs that they commonly try for oc. There are also clincal trials that may be available to your wife if needed. Trials with Morab 003 (an experimental monoclonal antibody) have shown good results. Also there are trials with PARP inhibitors. For now, lets not worry about recurrence. Lets get on the positive side of this issue and make the very most of all the days in your life and hers.

Avastin is still not "approved" for OvCa but many women do get the drug approved through their insurance company, or, get avastin on a clinical trial.  There are also clinical trials that are not based on recurrence, but, are looking at preventing recurrences.  Here in the USA, the National Caner  Institute can help with trials, but, I have no idea what exists in India.
I do know women that have been on avastin, one was kept stable for about 9 months and they are now adding doxil to the mix, and someone else that it did not help at all.

My mom gets avastin in india  for OC.  Around RS 15,000 per injection ($3200) .

Hi my sister in law eats apricot kernals and this seems to be helping .. her cancer recovery is speedy and she is doing great..prevention!!!!  if it were me i would 100 percent seek natural alternatives tcm ect...

My wife's sixth chemo is on the 30th of March. Her ESR has come down. CA 125 and CEA are normal. We want to sue apricot kernels. Could someone help in telling!

How many apricot kernels she should in a day?
How many times?
Any side effects?

Further, should she go for a PET now or only if OC relapses?

Sixth chemo went off well. Doctors in fact increased the dose to earleir levels that they used to give her before she had lost  weight. Thanks to thrree Apricap tablets, she has no problem of vomitting etc. Some tolerable pain for two days is all that she gets. Her CT-SCAN will be done one month after.

Could you help in answering the followign questions.

Should she go for a CT-SCAN or PET SCAN.

Should she start taking apricot seed kernels right away after she recovers from the chemo effects?


How many apricot kernels she should take  a day?

What blood tests have to be done if she takes apricot kernels?

How long she has  to take apricot kernels?

I read that grape juice is good for her and she takes 250 ml daily. Is it ok?

Is there a list of foods she should avaoid in her daily diet?

Has anyone used MORAB 003 or PARP INHIBITORS for OC? Where these treatments are available?
