Is Evista safe to take after chemotherapy treatment for Stage I Ovarian Cancer?

I had a hysterectomy and was diagnosed with Stage I ovarian cancer. I received chemotherapy for four months. I have -3T scores for osteoporosis and I'm looking for a safe medication to take. I have had a terrible reaction to Actonel and don't want to take Fosomax or similar drugs, but am considering Evista or Calcitonin. Any suggestions?

I was on Evista to prevent osteoporosis before the ovca and I'm still on it almost nine years after diagnosis.  My last dexa was considered "normal," which means normal for my age.   I just read an article indicating that tamoxifen and raloxifen (spelling? -- that's Evista) are useful to prevent breast cancer and/or recurrence of breast cancer.  And Evista is considered safer.

I'm a 1A, so my situation is similar to yours.  None of my doctors has questioned the safety of Evista for me.  I do stop taking it before a procedure such as a colonostomy because it can cause blood clots if you're not moving around much, but otherwise it's been no problem.

Good luck.
