Is it impossible to get pregnant w/ PCOS or extremely hard?

by mightymouse23, Dec 15, 2006 12:00AM
I've been recently diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, because I went into the ER with severely excruciating pain in my lower left abdomen, they saw a cyst on a CT, but then did an ultrasound, and it was gone, now, I did another one to check and see if it was a false diagnosis, or if I have a possible cyst or tumor. One question is, how easy is it to treat this diagnosis, and IF i have a cancerous cyst or so, is that easy to treat too?

Also, they perscribed me Metformin back in the end of Sept. 2006 and took it for about 2-2.5 weeks, and stopped because I started getting numerous infections "bladder/kidney infection, yeast infection, and bronchial cold/cough" now, those are gone, for the mostpart and Im back on the metformin 500mg 1xdaily w/ food, and I'm getting (since 11/16) severe headaches/pressure on the outside of my eyes/temples and I had a sore jaw for 3 days or so, they ruled out sinus infection, but now the headaches and dry heaving with nausea are back, and I feel starved when I wake up. I wake up an hour earlier, clammy and sick feeling but feel starved at the same time, what could this be, a side effect of the metformin??? I had the headaches for about 10 days, and was alright for about 10 days, and now this is the 3rd day, for the last 2 mornings I was sick before work, got better, then the headaches came, I'v turned lights lower, but it just jamms like a press pushin my sides in, no medicine seems to help.

I know you can't diagnose, but what do you think might be a subject to bring up with my doctor, I'm waiting for my endo's nurse to call.

I am on Metfomin for my dx of diabetus. Do you have high blood sugars?  I have had no reactions at all with my dosage.

My sister was diagnossed with PCOS.  She had a 13 yr old daughter and tried for 6yrs after she was born to have another one.  They decided they didn't want more kids and she used birth control.  When her gyn diagnossed her he said she could throw her birth control away that she didn't need it.  Within 2 months she was pregnant with twins.

Read up on Metformin and ask why you have been perscribed it. It does hace side affects. Mostly it is perscibed for type 2 diabetus.
