Is it safe to leave cysts alone?

I am currently on my third round of Lupron for endometriosis/adenomyosis while I am trying to decide what to do as far as having a hyst.  In June of 04, I had an ultrasound and it indicated 2 cysts.  I can't find the report to read exactly what it said.  I was considering an UAE for the adeno, needed to get another ultrasound done.  Cysts are still there.  This report states "two thin-walled nonseptated cystic interfaces are seen in left ovary."  I have pain on the right side, though this says cysts are in the left.  I also have bowel issues, bloating, etc.  I understand endometriosis puts you at a higher risk for OC.  Since these are nonseptated does that mean less likely to be cancerous.

thanks for responding.  Very interesting regarding the left ovary thing, wonder why that is.  I will know more when he gets the report of my mri, but I, like you, am thinking, it may just be better to get it out and see exactly what it is.

I had an endometrioma removed, along with my ovary and fallopian tube, last December.  My cyst was on the left ovary; however, my bowel/intestinal symptoms (gas mostly, and also the unusual feeling of the motion of the contents through the intestines) were noticeable on my right side.  My doctor did not offer a reason why this was so, but said that it is common to have symptoms on the opposite side, especially with left-side ovarian problems.

While researching my condition after my diagnosis, I do not recall seeing any studies indicating a higher incidence of ocva associated with endometriosis, BUT I did see noted two studies that found a higher correlation of ovca with LEFT ovary endometriomas.  That news heavily influenced my decision to have the endometrioma and the ovary removed.

To our great surprise, my doctor discovered that I have endometriosis, a rather terrible case of it at that.  I have never had any symptoms of the condition.  I chose not to take Lupron.

Yes, generally speaking, a cyst is less likely to be malignant than a solid tumor, and a cyst with a thin-walled septation is less likely to be malignant than with a thick-walled septation, but no one will know for certain unless the cyst is removed and studied by a pathologist.

Doc called me today regarding this ultrasound.  Previous ultrasound stated these were complex cysts. He thinks they have to be the same cyst(s) that were present previously.  Just may be smaller due to Lupron, so harder to see.  He doesn't know what to do about it yet.  Says my pain is probably related to bowel issue.  I don't know about that, feels ovarian to me.  He would have expected any cysts to be gone after being on Lupron over 3 months.  Also uterus is down to a 8-10 week pregnancy size, so that is good.  He also mentioned one cyst was an odd shape, oblong, is that significant?  Had an MRI done on Tuesday, he doesn't have the results of that yet.
