Is spotting normal when starting birth control?

by afmucky, Jun 25, 2006 12:00AM
I saw my gyn a couple of weeks ago because I have been having dull pains in lower left side.  She did a small ultrasound to maybe see if it was a cyst.  Then she finally made the prediction that it might be.  So she put me on birth control pills to ease the pain, but she informed me that the pill would cause some spot bleeding.  Even though she says this...the abnormality of bleeding when I am not suppose to still worries me.  Not only that...I am still having the dull pains.  Could this be something more serious?  I am only 22.
