It is quite on here today

I was wonder if anyone had any answers to my post earlier about my second UT?  I really would like to know I I should be concerned about mixed echoes within the myometrium and shadowing, as well as my right ovary having inhomogeneous echotexture.  I have been a nervousr wreck.  I have been on birth control for about 5 weeks stragiht with no break and I have had break through bleeding, first time doctore said it was due to an antibiotic.  Today I am bleeding again yet I am not on any new medications or antibiotics.  I figures since it is not heavy I would wait till Monday to see about seeing a doctor, but if it becomes heavy I could always use the ER.

Thanks in advance for any words of wisdom, carol

Prior to first and second UT I was bleeding for 7 weeks straight, I was put on birth control pill to control my bleeding.  My understanding from doctors is that while on the pills I should not have break through bleeding..???  So I am confused as to what is really happening.  In first UT posted about May 23 they could not find left ovary.

Report for Ultra Sound

Real-time ultrasound examination of the pelvis by tranabdominal and endovaginal approach is performed.  The uterus measures 9.8 x 4.6 x 5.6 cm with an endometrial stripe thickness of 11 mm, which may or may not be normal for this patient depending on her cycle.  There is a circumscribed heterogenous rounded mass in the uterus measuring 2.6 cm in diameter, consistent in appearance with a uterine fibroid.  The left ovary is not clearly visualized.  The right ovary measures  3.1 x 2.2  x 2.0  cm and demonstrates a 1.6 - cm hypoechoic area which cannot be classified as a simple cyst at this time.  There in no significant free fluid identified.

IMPRESSION
1. NONVISUALIZATION OF LEFT OVARY
2. LIKELY UTERINE FIBRIOD AS DESCRIBED
3. CANNOT EXCLUDE ENDOMETRIAL STRIPE THICKENING AT 11 MM
4.  COMPLEX CYST IN THE RIGHT OVARY AS DESCRIBED
5.  BASED ON THE ABOVE FINDINGS, RECOMMEDN FOLLOW-UP ULTRASOUND IN 4 - 6 WEEKS TO EVALUATE FOR CHANGE/ RESOLUTION

Hi Carol and Welcome to the Forum!  I am glad the cyst on your ovary appears to have resolved, that could have been painful so hope you are feeling better now.  The Fibroid sounds like the culpret here as they can cause that type of bleeding.  Next steps are important, found this in an artible about leiomyomas..

MR imaging is considered superior to US in the evaluation of uterine leiomyoma with a reported sensitivity of 92%.

There are new alternatives to the usual surgery with troublesome fibroids, thye show great promise, but first find out if you can get an MRI to pin this down.  Hang Tough Cyster!  Mary V

call me nieve, but what exactly are uterine leiomyoma?  I got this report today but have not been able to speak with a doctor and it could be Tues. or Wed. unless I get an appointment sooner.  I have military care, I am a widow times 13 years, and I have not even been seen by my primary care doctor at this point so I have to call and do follow ups at this point in case I get over looked by doctors who have only seen me one time.  I have been such a wreck.

I also forgot to post that I have extremely elevated testosterone levels, does this have anything to do with the cyst and other things going on?

I looked this up at www.humpath.com and it was GREAT news!  It says they account for 20 - 30 % of all fibroid tumors in women over age 35 and are the most frequently found BENIGN growths!!

Yes, Thurney is correct, this is a type of fibroid, sorry if I was not clear enough.  I was wondering if you have symptoms beyond the terrible breakthrough bleeding you are experiencing, even on BC!  MV

It what you have are fibroids, you can have breakthru bleeding even with BC pills. My fibroids caused me such bleeding that the dr put me on BC pills TWICE a day to slow it down so I could wait to have my hysterectomy scheduled. I had to stop the pills 2 days at least before the surgery for surgical safety reasons & I nearly hemmoragged. When the fibroids start getting so bad that you keep bleeding on & on it may be in your best interest to have the hysterectomy because if you wait too long it can get dangerous(I waited 2 yrs- way too long). I know they have that alternative surgery myoectomy(?) where they remove JUST the fibroid but dr told me it can cause significant bleeding & the recovery time is the same as the hysterectomy. I know people get scared of having hysterectomy but I tell you after I was all healed I felt good. No more periods or PMS. No problems with sex or anything. I did keep my ovaries thou.(wish I didn't at this time because I now have a mass on my ovary) Also what I was told fibroids are basically almost never cancerous & ongoing bleeding is the tell tale sign.
