Joint and muscle pain following first round of chemo

My wife went through first round of chemo (Taxol and Carboplatin)last week.  She is still having severe joint and muscle pain. Any explanation or help is greatly appreciated. She has the next round coming up in a few weeks.  Please advise as to whether the side effcts will be as bad as the first time or less severe.  Thanks.

I too had this severe pain in joints. The thing that helped me seem to be rest. Also I took Vitamin B6 on the advice of my Oncolgist and that also helped. After finally finishing my Chemos(21 rounds) in March the pain is finally starting to subside, but if I do not rest enough I am right back where I started. I have been taking Arthritis Tylenol and that helps too. I had been taking Vicodin during my chemos. Being only 44 when diagnosed learning how to rest has been hard but it really helps. Good Luck

Hi, I am new to the group and I thought that I could help out your wife. My doctor recently told me about a nutritional supplement from Japan called AHCC. It has been shown to increase the immune system. Also, when taken just before chemo it has decreased the effects of the chemo.  Check it out and talk to your dr about it. This is the best website I found.   http://ahcc-nutrients.com/
Good luck to you!
