Journal Entries and Your Community

Hey everyone...I was noticing that when you write a journal or journal comment, it is posted to every community that you have joined. So for example... I am also a member of the pet forum community. If I were to post a journal based on something regarding dog breeding, my journal would also show up here in the OVCA forum. I feel that would be completely inappropriate. I have read some journals that I feel maybe don't belong in this area and honestly I don't feel the people who wrote them intended them for here. I was wondering if maybe it would be feasible for medhelp to offer an options link as to which communitys your journal would be posted on the side. Just a thought...what do you think. Patty

Marty, if you go to the "My Shortcuts" box at the top left, over the ads it will show you what you communities you belong to.  That little shortcut is great cause when you are in emails there isn't a "back to forum" button and you can just use that shortcut to get back.  It works great!!

Hi all. I did write to medhelp using the contact us at the bottom. It doesn't show your journals if you only post on other forums. It only shows it if you have joined that forum or community. Marty when I looked at your profile it doesn't show you as being a community member for either this or the Downs forum.  There were a couple odd and kind of inappropriate journals here last week. When I looked into why they were here I saw that members that had joined this  forum were commenting on someones journal from another forum comunity they had also joined. Then I began to notice on some of the other forums I read the same thing. When I asked about it...yes indeed any forum you have joined as a member will see your journal on the side. Just thought that maybe that wasn't the best idea.

I only post on one other forum, the one I started with MedHelps help on Downs Syndrome   I just checked there and none of my posts  for this forum are posted there, in fact they do not have a Journal entry there. Guess I am not a registered user on that one, although I do post there quite a bit.

I did not know that.  I don't belong to any other groups here, but that is good to know.  I find out new stuff about this site all of the time.  Did you write to MedHelp or use the "suggestion box".  If you used the box, people can add comments to it and let MedHelp know they aren't happy either.  I am SURE that anyone writing the kinds of personal stuff that we do would not like it going out over the pet forum or any other.  I wouldn't.  Oh, and you are not being petty.  People don't have huge expectations of privacy here, but I would think most people would expect their stuff to stay in the forum for which it was written.

Thanks Angie..I messaged them. Really wasn't sure if I was being petty, but just think that people don't come here to read journals on other subjects. Patty

Hi Patty,
I didn,t realise that and agree with what you are saying completely . Maybe if a few of us messaged medhelp they might change it . They seem to be keen for feed back and any ideas so its worth a try.
