Kidney Pain - Recurrence?

Okay, I am probably getting ahead of myself again but I am worried. I have been in remission for 4 years but my CA-125 jumped to 26 in October (from an average of 13), had a clean CT scan then. In December, the marker was 27.2 and around that time I started having backaches, thought it was just the back but then realized this is kidney pain (right side only) and I also have foam in my urine. Went to GP who did a dipstick urinalysis which didn't show anything, he put me on Macrobid anyway to clear what he thinks is a sneaky UTI.

Pain comes and goes in waves - one day is fine, next day worse. I'm almost done with the meds. Insisted that they send some urine to the lab which they did yesterday, results not in until Monday due to holidays. Called oncologist and he ordered a CT for Jan 5. I will need bloodwork prior to make sure I have normal kidney function (iodine contrast).

Overall, I feel lousy, zero appetite, I lost 8 pounds in two weeks and am down to 116 now.

Question: did any of you ladies ever had a recurrence with urinary blockage? What were the symptoms?

Well, I had my CT this week and got the results today - NED, and nothing going on with the kidneys that they could see. This came as a big relief, however, the kidney pain is starting to come back one week after the antibiotic ended.

I am seeing my GP tomorrow to discuss how we proceed. Then, in 4 weeks, it's time for that cursed tumor marker again. The excitement just never stops!

Because of the holidays they can't move the scan up. Also, I do want to finish this round of antibiotics and the barium/CT prep would interfere with it.

Did you have any other symptoms? Foamy urine, puffy eyes, loss of appetite? Where was your tumor?

It's been such a rollercoaster these past two months and I've been feeling so crappy lately that at this point I don't even care that much, I just want to get better. I felt better during chemo 4 years ago! Obviously, this just can't continue...

Hi there...
Yes, my recurrence was detected because of urinary problems. My kidney was backing up which caused the same kind of kidney pain your expierencing.
I'm not saying at all that your having a recurrence - I'm just letting you know that this happened to be how I found out I was having one. (well, that and a CT scan confirmed it)
I'd wait and see what your CT scan says before you start to worry too much about things. Any chance you could get the scan moved up?
Take care and good luck,
Becky
