Laporotomy due to large dermoid!!

Hi,
I never posted on here and am very anxious to see if anyone out there can help me. I just found out I have a dermoid in my right fallopian tube  weiging in at about
5lbs and about the size of my doctors fist... I need a laporotmy to have it removed.

I am scared that my right tube will be damaged.. Me and my husband have been trying for a baby, Will I have problems?

What is the recovery period for this also? Please if anyone out here knows anything please get back to me.

You should not have any problems getting pregnant and should have a normal birth.  There is still the left tube and many women are able to conceive with only one ovary.

Laporatomy will take at least 6 weeks to recover.  Just take things very slowly and be really good to yourself.  

I had three large dermoids removed in December and opted to have a hysterectomy only because my uterus was enlarged, was having various other issues and my children are just about grown.

I had a ruptured fist sized dermoid removed via laparotomy back in 1998.  The doctor was able to save my left ovary and I got pregnant a little over two months later.  (had been trying for two years)  I'm sure your doctor will do everything possible to preserve your fertility.  The recovery is six to eight weeks, just like a c-section, no baby, just an alien.  I look at it this way...I was well prepared for my following c-sections.  Continued blessings to you!
