Latest report - Help on Etoposide

Hi Everyone,   Well I saw my Oncologist on Tuesday and Ca125 has increased and in quite a bit of pain.  She has decided to start me on Etoposide on Tuesday first and hopes this will sort things out if not it's back on etoposide and cisplatin.    Has enyone had etoposide on it's own and if so did it work and were the side effects as bad as the combined.   I am pleased to be starting something and the oncol. is keen to start as she says "better early as I am so well in comparison to how I was last year at this time"   She has every faith that the combined will work again if the etoposide on it's own doesn't.

Hello Helen Jane - glad to hear from you even if your news isn't so good.  I finished my combined cisplatin/etoposide nearly 4 weeks ago and am only now beginning to feel half way normal!  My CA125 came down from 150 to 53 over the regime which is not bad but not brilliant and I have some pains in my side which are worrying.  Like you I will be starting etoposide this week on its own as the follow-up I think.  I'm due to get my ct scan results on Tuesday and am crossing fingers etc and hoping the etoposide will continue to bring my CA125 down.  I seem to remember you had to finish on the combined regime a bit early last time and didn't have the etoposide maintenance?  Let's hope we both do well on it!  You are one brave woman considering doing the cisplatin again!  Best wishes, Jenny
