Left ovary with complex cyst and hypoechoic area measuring 1.4x1.1 x0.9. Help!

by Rosalina, Aug 23, 2005 12:00AM
Hi I am new to this forum and would like to Thank every-one for there help.       My question I have is,  I am 39  and have found out I have A problem in my left ovary.  Normally I have functional cyst, but this time it came back a little different.  This is what it said"  Left ovary 3.3x 2.2x2.2cm and contained follicle measuring 1.3x0.8x0.8cm  and well as complex cystic area measuring  1.4x1.1x0.9cm.  This may represent hemorrhagic cyst. The possibility of other lesions cannot be excluded. ( A complex hypoechoic area measuring this 1.4x1.1x0.9 is described above. )  This was the impression.      Okay I have a hisory of these things busting.   My doctor cannot do the surgery ( laproscopic ) Until Oct. 5th 2005.    My c-125 came back at 48.   I am a little worried here.   My Aunt had a 35 pound one removed 10-years ago and went for chemo.  She has died since and I cannot ask questions.   I guess,  I am scared if it is ovarian cancer,   I had a second opinion by my medical doctor and he said'  I am very lucky to have this found so small.   Any help or input would be appreciated.  Thanks so much for this forum and help.       Thanks Rosalina

If your late aunt is related on your mother's side of the family, then you can be considered as having a family history of ovca.  My suggestion, and it is one that will be agreed upon by many posting on this forum, is to seek the advice of a gyn oncologist.  It would be preferable to have a gyn onc do the surgery if your doctor is not a specialist in gyn cancer surgeries.  Statistically speaking, your cyst is not likely to be malignant, but in the event that it should be found cancerous, then a specialist would be best able to find and remove as much of the cancer as possible.

Thanks so much,  Yes this was my mom's sister who had this cancer. She was about 48 when she was diagnosed.  Unfortunely she passed from kidney disease,  so I cannot find out the kind of tumor it was.  All I know is it was huge about 35 pounds or so.  And she had chemo.   I did schedule another ultrasound for Sept. 14th 2005.  I am hoping this will resolve itself.   Thank you for recomending the oncologist.    Rosalina

i was just diagnosed with left ovarian cysts, i am 36, one is 2.5cm and is a simple cyst, the other is 3.0cm and is a complex cyst that probably represents a hemorrhagic cyst, i have been spotting brown blood and am worried, i was told by my doc that i am too young to have cancer and not to worry, please tell me your results!
