Longtime problem

by Messmaker, Nov 15, 2003 12:00AM
I am a 35 year old female.  I have been on birth control since I was 18, but stopped taking any birth control about 9 months ago. I was on the Depo shots for about 8 years and stopped them 2 years ago.  Since that time my entire system has been out of wack. I am now getting worried though. I have very irregular periods with bleeding in between cycles.  I also have bleeding after sex. I have minor pains in my left side where my ovary is. It is always my left side, never the right. When it is not hurting is still has a feeling like a knot in there. It's hard to explain. I also feel as if I could cry at any time. 4 weeks ago I started my regular period.  I bled for about 10 days.  I then had about 4 days where I didn't bleed. I had sex with my husband, started bleeding afterwards and have been bleeding every since. It has been well over 2 weeks. It's not heavy, but constant. It has started to slow down yesterday and today, but I am still very worried.  I have had tests on top of test including Ultrasounds(topical & internal), blood work of all kinds, uterine biopsy, etc. All the doctors say nothing is wrong, but it seems suspicious that the pain is always on the left side. Most of them say that it just takes a while to get bakc to normal after the Depo, but 2 years now???  Does this sound normal for someone on the shot that long?  I am at the end of my rope and don't know what else to do.  I have never had kids, and have not had to deal with these issues for a number of years because I did not bleed at all while I was on the Depo Shots. Some feedback of any kind would be nice.

I don't believe that kind of bleeding should be considered normal that long after Depo.

I agree with the advice given--seek another opinion.  Something isn't right.
