Looking for information

Was told in fall 2002 that I had a 10cm growth on ovary. Six months later in 2003 had another 5cm growth. I opt to have nothing done as the changes of these being cancer was very low although the doctor could not rule it out completly unless I had surgery. (No surgery as husband passed away and youngest daughter fighting brain tumor.)She is doing ok now.
For the past few months I have been having terrible back ach and leg aching as well. The pain has moved to include the groin. Now I have developed terrible cramping for the past 2 days and ongoing and has not stopped.
My question - is this what ovarion cysts do or is this more common to ovarian cancer? Will this cramping stop? Any info will be appreciatd. Thanks

Did your doctor diagnose a "growth," or did the doctor specify a cyst, or a tumor?  If a cyst, then did the doctor specify whether the cyst was simple or complex?

Generally speaking, only a simple cyst is likely to resolve completely on its own. A complex cyst is more worrisome, and less likely to just 'go away.'   In fact, in many cases a complex cyst continues to grow.  (However, it is understandable why you chose not to undergo surgery at the time the masses were discovered.)  The symptoms for benign ovarian masses (whether they be cysts or tumors) and the symptoms for malignant ovarian masses are the SAME.  Without further testing, or  surgery, it will not be possible for the doctor to state for certain whether the mass is benign or malignant, or for the doctor to resolve your pain issues.

So, yes, it is very likely that you have larger masses on your ovaries, and they have begun affecting the blood vessels and nerves which are then affecting your legs and back.  There is also the chance that a cyst has ruptured if your are experiencing acute pain.

Thank you for your comment. I had a hysterectomy in 95. The ct report said "the findings reflects a complex cyst and a solid adnexal component cysts, although cyst adenoma or, remotely, cystadenocarainoma cannot be confidently excluded.
The pain was not sudden, it came over a period of time  The cramping has been for about 2 days. If this is a rupture will the cramping stop in time? Thank you

The rupture of a small cyst would likely produce pain for a shorter time duration.  However,  if a large cyst ruptures, especially if solid components are released into the abdoment, then an infection can result.  If a cancerous cyst ruptures, then the cancer cells will be spread into the abdominal cavity.  This very thing happened to a friend.

I strongly suggest that you see your doctor about this matter.
