Looking to ease my mind!

I recently went to see my doctor due to a late period and increased urination..I thought I may be pregnant. During an internal exam my doctor noticed a fullness in my left ovary. A pelvic ultrasound was done and I was told that I have 2 cysts on my right ovary and "multiple..about 12" cysts on my left ovary. I have been reading about ovarian cysts on the internet and am becoming increasingly concerned...I have been on the birth control pill for 10 years (I'm 27, mother of a 6yr old son) and have always had regular, pain-free periods - up until now. I have not had a period for the past three months. My doctor has scheduled another ultrasound and a bloodtest. Is it possible to have ovarian cysts and no symptoms? Am I over-reacting?..My doctor seems so casual about all of this! I am very worried and any guidance would be wonderful.
